My first big race of the season is this weekend at Okeeheelee BMX in West Palm Beach, ought to be fun with all the new guys that just turned 45.
Many many thanks to Ed at PlanetBMX.com for hooking me up with this awesome ride. Thanks to our co-sponsors Profile and Fly as well.

Gatorpit, those are 8" rise MCS Torque Bars.

Raceface, thanks. I just missed making the main on Saturday, my teamate Jim Graham beat me at the line by a couple of inches. Made the main on Sunday and got fourth, unfortunately I had to beat Jim to do so. It feels pretty good to make the main in this class especially since I'm the oldest guy in the group!  lol

Re: My weapon for 2013...thanks Ed!

Thats a rad bike, I started up again and am having so much fun. I have gotten 5 of my friends out, and 4 of our kids into it and counting....I am having so much fun, we are racing 20's though.  The Cruiser Class here in UT is stacked with some talent.  I took 1st friday and a 2nd saturday, I am up to 4 1sts now. I am not in too much of a hurry to advance, I like racing with my buds.  Good luck out there! Oh, and I am in the 36-40 class, I am 40.

That is tight.  I have a question that I know has been asked before.  Why don't racers run micro gearing?  I'm gonna start a thread on that I think because I want the definitive answer from dudes who race.  What's you take, Pete?

Too much stress on the drivetrain.

If it has tits or tires, it's gonna give you problems.

Love you too man... lol lol

jayk, I'm in the same boat as you, old guy in the class. It's all good though. 20 or 24, as long as you're out there having fun with your kids it don't matter what you're riding.

bennyt, I have yet to find a half link chain that I trust and you have to run them with micro gearing. I've broken every one I've tried just putzing around on the street and at the skatepark, I can't imagine trying to come out of the gate hard on one without having the fear of it breaking in the back of my mind.
Also, a lot of the aluminum race frames have some fairly large chainstays, and I don't think the chain would clear with a 9 or 10 tooth driver.

Pop tubes, not caps

Would you like a Fat Tire, Big Sprocket, or Short Rear End. Pick two.
