The decal is 1982 and up. Not sure when the brown bearings went away. I have a set with that decal and black bearings and pretty sure mine are 1985 48's.

I'd hazard a mid eighties date Johnny. The fact that you know they are old by virtue of the pitted rims and grime. I would say you are fairly certain they are indeed, old.
Nice hubs! I have a pair in the same color that I know are real too. It's too bad these hubs seem to have a cloud hanging over them anymore.
