85 pro performer
I was hoping you guys could help me figure out what came on an 85 pro performer. I just picked one up from the original owner and he said it use to have white mag wheels and white forks. But he swapped out the mags for some 48s and he bought chrome forks because he bent the white ones. I would post a pic but its nasty dirty, been hanging in a barn for aprox 13 years
Any and all help appreciated
Thanks,
Shawn

Holy shit! that thing must have been buried! Great bike. Just check out the other ones in the museum and also do a search for GT catalog threads.

That looks so cool, covered in that layer of protective dust. I'd start with a pressure washer to get all the crap off, then some car wash soap and a soft sponge. Enjoy!

Re: 85 pro performer
That is awesome!
I dragged home a Mongoose Stylist Pro that spent a winter in a drainage ditch. It was cleaner than your Performer.

Re: 85 pro performer
So another question the acs stem isn't og either? He said he had them put the rotor on, is that because the mallet didn't have a hole to accept the rotor so they changed stems too?

Re: 85 pro performer
Started to clean it up, it's going to have a fresh coat of shine, stickers are crummy too

Question I'd like some opinions my frame has Japanese stickers, my forks have USA stickers. Should I replace them just like that or stick to one style?

Re: 85 pro performer
The og owner told me it had white mags, he couldn't remember how many spokes, and the forks were white he bent those. He said he had them put the rotor on and wide handle bars, the bars that I have have 86 stickers
So far I have an 85 frame, forks are 85?, 86 bars, and white laid back gt post. I washed every thing and every thing needs painted or coated

Re: 85 pro performer
post shim? they could be used and if it fits is really no big deal..check the seat tube for cracks or pinching.. try to keep the clamp as high up the seat tube mast as possible or get the original GT/SR clamp on there...
