Early 80's GT 24' Cruiser??
Hi all - New to the board and looking for some verification on my old 24" cruiser. Im the 3rd owner (I purchased around 1989 or so). I was told it was a GT but I know the decals were replaced (very poorly). I recently pulled it out of my moms basement after sitting idle for nearly 20yrs.. Quite a survivor - the tires even still hold air! Anxious to clean it up and take a spin.
Serial # is located inside the right rear chain stay and is 881776. Is this a Santa Ana? Huntington Beach? Is it even a GT?!?
Any help is much appreciated!
Not sure how to post photos but they should be available here.

Cool bIke, does the first two numbers in the serial say 88, or 86? Sick wheels.

I can not sit still. I have been tested for A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. and have neither. I don't need coffee, I just need a B.M.X. or surfboard to consistently ride and I'll be happy.

Re: Early 80's GT 24' Cruiser??
Thanx TXBONE - Im sure the # is 881776 - the difference between the 8's and last #6 is clear in person. Wheels are custom built buy the previous owner/friend of mine. Ukai rims and Suntour sealed bearing hubs - still spin as free as the day they were built!

Hello Nelson, welcome here.
Nice Gt you're showing us.
Looks like you're out on identifying what you have there. ![]()

Re: Early 80's GT 24' Cruiser??
Started the clean up today at the shop - forgot how many unique tools were required - been along time since my shop days! This is just a quick clean up to knock off 20+ years of basement dust. Not sure I have the time/tools/patience for this anymore! Why cant i post in the FS section?!?
Befores from the basement:

a little clean up at the shop:

Dirty Wheel next to a 2hr clean up!

Re: Early 80's GT 24' Cruiser??
Heres the last of my efforts. Assembled it all again this afternoon - didnt bother cleaning the front wheel - rear wheel cleaned up great even without removing the freewheel. Bottom bracket needs tichtened, a few spokes are loose (wheels are true and spin free as the day they were built!) Brakes still work killer! Got some good shots outside my shop in the sun. No rust, no rewelds, no cracks. And I decided to see if my 40yr old ass could still have a little fun with it - and not thats not a photo chop! LOL
Only flaw I could find on the frame - small dent below the seat clamp

Cleaned up rear wheel - looks WAY better than the front!
Not bad for 32 yrs old!
The rear wheel was worth the 2hrs cleaning - major difference!
