Re: 1986 Haro Master

NICE Chrome Master!  Looks to be in great condition.  What's the story?

It may be an '85.  I believe if it was a Nov. or Dec. '85 serial # then it is an '86 model year.  Maybe I'm wrong.....

The Oct, Nov and Dec are actually considered '86s. This one has the high pegs too. I'm not a Haro guru, I had to ask Jsadinski (Jason). There are a few things that back this up, First is the Redline 400 cranks and the other is the smooth seatpost instead of the fluted used on later '86 models. I'm open for debate smile

Hi Ryan yours is a 86 year model Mate ,,,,,the Major difference between an 85 frame and a 86 frame can be seen in the the 2 photo,s below ,,,, look at the gap between the twin top tubes and the down tube ,,on the green 85 there is very little gap only a few mm's ,,,but the gap is quite larger on the blue 86 around 15 mm's and it is also dated 10th month 85 making it an 86 year model ,,,,,,,,
In reference to the high hole forks ,these ran all the way through 85 and onto early 86 Master,s around Feb or March , then the low hole forks showed up .......
Also early 85 frames had no Knurling on the rear chain stays in front of the L shape drop out and the cable guides were brassed to the side of the top tube not the bottom ,,this can be clearly seen in the below photo,s .........Hope this helps you mate and Sweet Ride .............smilebig_smilecool

Re: 1986 Haro Master

I don't know if the frame is a 86.. But i do know that the stem , cranks ,chainring and fork pegs are from an 85.    The 86 has haro cranks with unidirectional chainring, haro group 1 stem and foldable fork pegs.

Yep, this is the one. I have some blue Oakley B2's on the way. The Oakley .5's were the next best thing. Thanks for all the kind words everybody. Seems everybody loves these Masters
