I'm a day away from filing one against someone from craigslist and I'd like to know what I should expect. maybe I'm jumping the gun here? here's my story-

12/23:
found a stem on craigslist, dude is an hour away. so I emailed him to see if he was willing to ship it. he says yeah and gave me a shipped price.
I asked for pics, he sent them. I said ok, send your paypal info and asked when it would ship. he did, and said after Christmas.
sent payment, he replied saying he got it.

12/26:
got an email from him asking where I wanted it shipped to. I replied with my address.

12/28:
I sent him an email if he had a chance to get it out yet. his reply was "We had a pretty bad snow storm and the roads have been terrible so I've been stuck inside. I'm going to ship it today though. Sorry for the wait." and I told him OK, thanks.
we had some weather also, but it was only half of the day and our roads were clear by dark. I gave him the benefit of the doubt in case his area had more snow than I did.

1/2:
sent him another check in email asking if he had any luck getting it sent out. his reply was "Yeah, I sent it out last week."
"last week" was 12/28, the day he claimed it would be sent.

as of today, 1/8, it's been 6 days in transit for something that "was mailed" an hour away. is this possible? he never gave me a tracking number and like an idiot I mistakenly forgot to ask for one. should I email him back telling him I don't have it yet? should I not say anything and wait til tomorrow to file my dispute?

For sure email him and tell him you haven't seen it and what's the tracking number so you can check on it. If he gives you a song-n-dance about losing it or forgot to get one, file now and I'd tell him you are resorting to that in the email. Just my 2¢

dougie fresh is right file a dispute for non receipt of item and then escalate it to claim. CL is no bueno sometimes.

Havent you got 45days to file a dispute ??.... Not that I'm saying dont, but you still have time on your side.

Put the hard word on him and ask WTF is happening..... then see how he reacts.

There was some nice stuff up for sale in the DC CL with brute stem, Sugino 3 piece cranks, mags, etc...all for about $75. Thought maybe it was that.

I recently shipped something from St. Louis to the middle of Florida via 3 day priority. I mailed it on December 19 and it got there on January 5. That's plain crazy. And not to hijack the thread, but could I get any money back from USPS? It's not worth the time really, but I'm curious.

Back to the topic. Good to file a claim when you feel something's gone wrong. No harm. You've given it time.

got some emails after I filed the dispute yesterday.

- first he asked what part I didn't get, apologizing to me if I have tried texting him recently because he broke his phone over the weekend.

- after I told him what it was, he said it was sent and he was gonna find the tracking number.

- then he asked what the address was.

- then he found the tracking number, listed it on the email and told me the delivery date and time.

- and then claimed the town it was delivered to was my town.

I just got to work and checked the tracking number he provided and the number he gave me was delivered to a town 8 miles/15 away. getting interesting.

Funny how people start to communicate once you file a claim. Happened to me once here. After being told my item had shipped and I waited patiently I fially filed a claim. Seller shipped item the next day.

as much as I'd like my stem to show up, I'd rather have the $50 back at this point. I'm gonna shit bricks if it magically shows up Friday or Saturday though.

what I am expecting is "oh, the stem was just returned to me today in the mail. I guess I got your address wrong. gonna resend it again."

me 2. the seller said he had shipped it a few days before my claim but when i got it 3 days later the date on the box was the same as the day i filed the claim.
