Common BMX tools I should have
Is there anything that wouldnt be found in a common tool set that I should have to work on my bike? I have basic wrenches, screwdrives, L wrenches, etc. But are there specific things that I need to get at a bike shop? Thanks. and sorry if this is a dumb question.

Re: Common BMX tools I should have
Best thing I can think of, buy a good name brand tool kit. A larger set full of sockets metric and standard, allen wrenches, and open end wrenches. You will need cone wrenches, but mostly just one or two. A rubber mallet always comes in handy. The air pump with built in gauge is a must.
Depending on how serious you want to get.
Truing stand
4th Hand brake tool
Bearing press
Crown race setter
spoke ruler
caliper
brake cable cutter

Re: Common BMX tools I should have
This is a good kit to get started with. I now have 2-3 times more bike specific tools, but this is what i started with and it has worked good for me.

Re: Common BMX tools I should have
bought a cheap sub $10.00 socket set, as park tools are way beyond my price range, ( even if i had the cash not spending $500.00 on tools the LBS is much less expensive. ( kicking myself ) but long story short the sockets don't fit the 15mm i tried for cranks.
had to look around online for an explanation, found out the bicycles need THIN WALL SOCKETS, and the guy from Sheldon uses snap - on
, and craftsman works too. the socket ( 15mm ) was $2.50. make sure it says CRAFTSMEN on it... as alotta add are unclear.

Re: Common BMX tools I should have
Pedal wrench...Hard to get regular wrenches in between pedal and crank arm without issues and cone wrenches are too short.

Re: Common BMX tools I should have
I just bought a Park crank remover. It is sooooo much better than beating on the crank arms with a rubber mallet. I am replacing my L shape allen wrenches with Craftsman 3/8 drive allen sockets. 6mm seems to be the most common size

Re: Common BMX tools I should have
Thanks all. I had most things I needed. Had to pick up a 3/8 allen wrench and 15mm sprocket though. Not sure how I didnt have those considering I have several sets of allen/sprocket sets.
