Re: Best way to paint???
I'm no pro but try and do thin coats. I think most people screw up right of the get go by trying to cover with the first coat. That's my advice. ![]()

Sand.prime.rough up.paint light coat.pay attention to areas you missed.(remember that tubing has four sides)rough up again.paint.let dry a couple days.I always go one more coat.let dry.then I use super fine wool to rough up,them a nice clear coat. Lots of info on here.be patient. You'll be amazed at results.

Well its already chrome but I want it to have the scheme like a late 80s Haro would! So should I sand the area of chrome I wanna paint, prime, then spray coats?

Re: Best way to paint???
Use a primer called etching primer. Then you don't have to sand the chrome. There are tons of builds on here with step by steps. I painted my first one a year ago or little lounger. It's the redline in my bikes. I also just did the pink hutch I have. Paints cheap and easy and if you muck up. Strip and do it again.

Re: Best way to paint???
I keep both inside and don't ride too much. Hutch isn't complete yet. Redline is fine. I painted it sept 2011. It scuffs easy but i think it just needed more clear coats. The pink chiped at the drop outs but again both are riders so doesn't bother me. If I trash it no biggie. Il repaint one day.

this was sandblasted first, then primed and painted with a spray bomb....The paint is from a company called Indura paint, they can make what ever colour you want and put itin a spray can, nice stuff to work with!!

Re: Best way to paint???
Oops, sent twice,E-coat or etch primer is for bare metal as a first stage rust inhibitor it will not chemically adhere to chrome even if scuffed

It's possible the point is to not have it chip running your fingernail over it,u should sand , scuff and use a sealer

Re: Best way to paint???
This is spray paint with clear coat
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n248 … G_8965.jpg
You can get good results with spray cans just prep properly, use light coats. If you get alot of orange peel you can wetsand with 1000 then 1500. Follow up with a high quality paint polish.
