axle lock nut question

is it okay to a put a washer between lock not and dropout so lock nut doesnt damage dropout???

good question that i would also like to know as there are never any close up pictures of wheels fitted but a washer is not far of the same surface area , so i dont know what would be the gain, if you use a large penny washer it will look awful.
A drop out saver only protects the front.

I've used them on wheels that have tiny lock nuts to preventing spreading the dropout.

I just used average (about quarter size?) 3/8" flat washers.

yea im just tryin to provide space between freewheel and dropout, as shimano freewheel has thiose grooves on it and u need clearence or else itll dig into inside of dropout....
