Re: Supercross DTT freestyle frame

That Radberry is such a cool color.

I'm wondering now if I should have saved the $50 I spent on the green/chrome and bought radberry/black.

if you want a parts brake down klick link I almost did not get Radberry thay said it was sold out in all sizes. but then because computer was marking price wrong. he said hold on I will go back and see for my self. glad he did he found one  size 20 . 75 left in Radberry big_smile glad I did not go shorter. I am 5 feet 8 inch tall any shorter frame. my knee would hit bars with staderd length pro stem.

That being said I am really surprised Redline has not made a new honest to God top of the line RL-20II...maybe for its 30th anniversary; if BMX is still moving along well.

Got mine!

Here's my mini out of box review... I wished I had something like this before I ordered, so here you go!

My first impression oddly was that it's dirty.  Not horrible, but excessively dusty. Also it almost looked like part of the BB had rested in a puddle.  Enough I'll need to clean it before assembling, but no damage that I can see, just odd.

I bought this thinking it was a Haro clone.  It's actually more of a Redline/Haro hybrid that takes some of the best of both.

Here is the full frame on a nice soft bed.  I'm paranoid about the paint smile
http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 … 9a8522.jpg

It has really beautiful dropouts.  Small, but bid enough for pegs and I like the little touch of machining on the back of them.  Classy.  Also the feet friendly and clean chainstays.
http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 … 041385.jpg

The weird tip on the chainstays must be a reflection in the camera.  After I saw this pic I had to go look again, but they are nice and round with clean fine welds.
http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 … 2ecdcf.jpg

One of the most important views, from the top!

The small holes in the braces are used for mounting the included brake hardware.  One of the two holes in each is threaded.
http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 … a9353e.jpg

The weld is only on the top.  This isn't perfect IMHO, but not a deal breaker.  It does concern me that it might crack here, but whether it causes a failure or just a cosmetic problem is yet to be seen.
http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 … d8891e.jpg

The rear end is very straightforward, but I think it will be functional and easy on the feet.  I actually sort of like the completely straight tubes.
http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 … 1569af.jpg

There is a pretty cool engraved logo slightly offset to the left on the headtube.  I'm a fan of these engraved headtubes, but they aren't that uncommon on current bikes.
http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 … 3a4e4c.jpg

Here is the BB area.  The welds look nice and if you look closely you can barely tell that the downtube is ovalized like an RL20 or RL20-II, but smaller in diameter.  I really like the ovalized downtube.
http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 … c4f8c4.jpg

Closer shot of the stock graphics.  Extension 20-II ? That might be a little close for comfort, but hey, I guess they got away with it.
http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 … 435b05.jpg

These will quickly get knocked off by my feet.  I'm not sure why manufacturers put stickers here, they will be peeling in two weeks of use.  These will be removed before assembly.
http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 … 945e39.jpg

Here is where the removable brake mounts go.  They look better in person, they look lumpy here.
http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii4 … 1618b4.jpg

There are a couple of places where the top layer of paint seems a little thin, such as the center of the top tube braces and the underside of the top tubes at the headtube.

I'm not sure it will be a long term problem, but it looks like maybe the green top coat was mixed too thin.  The headtube junction is just plain hard to paint evenly, but it's nothing most people will ever notice.

Now to put it together!

Nice job.

I really like the rear drop-outs, they did a very nice job and removed some unnecessary weight.   Stays' ends are very reminiscent of the RL-20II

Re: Supercross DTT freestyle frame

Here's mine almost complete!

I managed to squeeze the chainstay length to 13.25".  The peg hangs off a little, but I don't see it hurting anything.

Still need to find my missing Huck bar end, one more DK Firestarter (I lost one!) and tie the cables up a bit, but it's pretty much done.

I might not get the bars and forks chromed, it's not bad like this.  It's a rider, but that's one reason I wanted the chrome, it holds up to riding better.

Redline has considered it. Not sure if they still are though.

Nice I have the radberry with a 20.75 TT length, need to get some pics and post. Haven't ridden it much yet but so far it is a fun ride.

Old bikes need love too, get them off the carpet and ride!
Need red Oakley 3's in great condition and red Suntour 44t chainring to finish recreating my first BMX bike.

JUGGARNAUT got my green and chrome Supercross and the Trick Star is stripped down.  I better start posting as soon as I get them or something.tongue

I didn't really get any time on the Supercross.  I got it for flat and park, but hurt my foot and pretty much need to stick to flat now.  Juggs got it like brand new.

What little I did ride it, it wasn't as flat friendly as I had really wanted though.  The 20.5 was a little long for me, but I think it would have been a nice all around bike.

I'm pretty excited about the 19" Subrosa though.  It balances well and seems fairly controlled, unlike my 19.5 Intrikat that seemed way too twitchy.

I like the built in chain tensioners, but I've heard some people say they can chew up threads on your axle.  I run 3/8 to 14mm screw on adapters, so it doesn't hurt me anyway.

After a couple of days of actual riding, the Subrosa seems like a keeper.

this bike has taken a lot of parts swaps to get it to ride nice for me. frame is shorter than my flat. with the 170 mm cranks on . my heals hit the pegs during bunny hopes and some tricks felt off. so swaped them for 145 mm  but it's a nice all around freestyle bike. but I still love my Flatt more for flatland riding. but as a street / park bike the supper cross wins that hands down.

but I have ben working on building a new bike (ST Maten TEN 10) so have not rode the super cross as much as I want to.

Re: Supercross DTT freestyle frame

The TEN is really really nice. For flat it is my fave frame to date!! I love it!

I like the SX as well, for all around. I can ride flat on it. I have it set up with both brakes so i can do decades and just all around goof off on it...def a fun ride. If i could get my darn foot between the tire and seatube id even try a cherrypicker lol. When i want to seriously practice flat though, i ride the TEN. I have that one currently set up with only front brakes. After riding the  SX, tricks on the TEN seem so much easier lol. Both are great rides though!
