SANTA ARRIVED EARLY BEING TOWED BY A WHITE GOOSE WITH GOOSE TUFF II's
The story goes like this......
I saw an ad on Monday morning for an 81' mongoose. The person didn't have a phone number listed, so I emailed them but did not get any kind of response until Tuesday night. It turned out to be a man named Chris who is really cool. He lives over an hour from me, but i assumed the bike was original from the three cruddy pics he had posted as well as the way he described the bike to me. In the ad i noticed it had the newer style (85'-86') goose pads, chain guard, skyway tuff ii's with reflectors still on them that have a mongoose symbol on them so that's what made me interested.
Once him and I finally had a time set reflecting his hectic work schedule we finally met this late afternoon. I got to his house and nearly fainted trying to keep my composure as he had the chain guard and pads off. All the parts are in perfectly mint original condition. The only thing that does not look original to the bike are the tires, possibly the tuff II's and the pad set. The Serial is CC1 40*** I think it's a motomag? Is it? Are these tuff two wheels original, and or rare with the mongoose stamping? I have also been told by numerous people that this white color on motomags is rare as well.... Please, I would love to hear your info on this 81' mongoose motomag. If it is a motomag...............
Thanks,
Sean
These pics kind of suck. Ill have to get some good ones tomorrow outside in the sunlight.

Re: SANTA ARRIVED EARLY BEING TOWED BY A WHITE GOOSE WITH GOOSE TUFF II's
yes, the skyway mags that has Mongoose stamped on them are somewhat rare. They are originals. I had a set come through my hands before. I should have kept them. - It can be interchangeable with motomags, skyway tuff mags, or femcos. from what i see, everything you have right there are originals. Do not part them out or I will come over and knock your door down.
I sold my wheels for 150. But thats 2 years ago. og paint and decals. clean it up and ride. I would love to buy it if price was cheap enough. ![]()

I'm going to turn this thing into a tall bike. ![]()
So you think the tuff wheels are OG to the bike? As well as the pads? And is this a motomag? How many years did the motomag come with this type of stem?

The guy said he replaced the original tires a couple months ago because they were cracked. Bummer on that. ![]()

Re: SANTA ARRIVED EARLY BEING TOWED BY A WHITE GOOSE WITH GOOSE TUFF II's
Are those bars stainless? I seem to remember motomags with different levels of components at the lbs bitd. If that did indeed come off the floor like that, it was a real nice one. Then again, someone could have picked out the stem and bars and had them installed as new. Are you putting pro class bars on it? Awesome bike man.

I'm not going to touch a thing on it. The only thing I'm going to do is clean it up with warm water, a microfiber cloth, maybe some soap, and find some winners choice 20 inch tires for it. I believe those are the tires that were original to the bike. I will check the bars if they are stainless. How can I tell if they are? What else would they be, chromoly? They look chromoly to me.....

thanks, it still has not really hit me yet. It always takes a couple days to set in once I see it a few times unexpectedly like when I wake up and I'm looking at it on the way to the pisser. ![]()
The other rad thing is that this was sold right here in Westlake. That's about 10-15 miles from Chatsworth where it was made. I live the opposite direction from Chatsworth and am only 35 minutes from Westlake which makes it really cool.
Pic will come soon of the bike shop sticker.

See if a magnet sticks to the bars. All of my stainless bars won't hold a magnet.

Ya, there's not even brake rub on the rear skyway. Even though it has a rear caliper as well as a coaster brake it looks to have maybe been ridden a handful of times. Also looks to have been garage kept its whole. Life.
This bike is 3 years older than me. ![]()

thats rght, it did come off of the show room floor. Sometimes bike shops switch parts around to get a different look on it.
Pads are not original to it but everything else looks correct.

Nice score - I would slap a set of used Tuffs on it and keep the others - they look new. Then when this ends up on a wall/carpet put the originals back on...Same with tires. Nice bike. ![]()
