It looks extended

Thanks for the interest guys and yeah Chach that's it in all its 22" TT glory s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d out, I can't wait to see the fork!

As for color I'm 95% certain i'm going with black for the frame, fork, bars, post and chainwheel, the other 5% is still pondering the original lavendar for everything but the chainwheel. hmm

Put in some Photoshop work on my decals today:

Edit: Man did photobucket make those look like crap! Way reduced quality, but I guess it is a huge file roll

Re: Build Thread - Custom 1987 Dyno 2-Four Freestyle Cruiser

First off the bad, I'm pretty disappointed that the paint is coming off of this frame and fork with the slightest touch. I fitted the wheels a few weeks back and the paint is now missing from the inside of the front dropouts. I put the bike up on its rear drops on a rug to work on the headset install, and the paint is now worn off the ends of the rear drops. Not happy sad

Anyway, after researching the methodology here on the museum, I had to fashion a cup press to install the headset bearing cups. I am using a chrome headset from an '85 GT Performer and the cups were super hard to get in the the D-Tour's head tube. I bought a micrometer and the ID of the headtube was 32.5 and OD of the cups was 32.7'ish. I hit the inside of the headtube with some emory paper, wiped and greased, then gave my contraption a try. Success. I had a nightmare after trying the install last night that I forgot to put the lower Gyro stop on before the lower cup, so I didnt make that mistake big_smile

Here's my press. 8" long 3/4" lag bolt, 2 3/4" washers on each side, and a 3/4" nut. Make sure its centered and tighten up one cup at a time.

After that I fitted up the fork and installed the headset with fresh white lithium grease. Cups went in correctly and the headset functions smooth. Threw in the Mallet stem and took it outside for some pics:

Next I mounted up the tires on the 24" Tuffs.

Nice Kenda gumwalls and sealed bearing wheels that spin forever. Niiice! Heavy but nice. This bike is going to be weighty no doubt.

+1 lol that's sucks about the paint... If it's coming off that easy, I'd repaint it before putting the stickers, you've waited this long already. Looks dope...
