What kind of dummy doesn't take his parts apart BEFORE dropping them off?

The sympathy shown so far is overwhelming.

I brought them to the guy and asked him if I needed to take them apart. He said, "No, not a problem, I'll do it"
I showed him how to unscrew the cap also. Young kid, think it was his first day, or he knew nothing about Old School.

That sucks for sure, but at least you CAN get replacements.

Did you think the kid, who is probably younger than your pedals, give a shift about your parts?

Do you make it a practice to bring in whole parts/pieces/assemblies for coating/inspection/repair, hoping to pick them up complete as you left them, when the employee you left them with only cares about one thing?  The money in your wallet....

If your inner self answered yes, you need to change that practice.

When taking things to the powdercoater, I find it best to do all the prep work I can before I give it to them.  Everything gets baked at around 400F, so High temp masking tape and anything that could melt should be removed.  Also degrease thoroughly as the grease wicks it's way out under heat.  Make the coaters job as easy as you can and you will end up with better end results.
