1979 Schwinn Mag Scrambler SX100
Just a cool 1979 Schwinn Mag Scrambler SX100
Picked this up from member red stick here on the Museum. He told me he got two 1979 Schwinn Mag Scramblers from two brothers, they received them both as Christmas gifts from their parents in 1979, I couldn't let them part ways, so I ended up with both of them, the red one here, and a Spicy Chesnut one, also in my museum. Both of these bikes were in pretty sad shape. I did this for a Christmas present for my wife. Took it apart and detailed the frame, re-cad plated all the Schwinn Hardware, Oxalic Acid on the chrome, rebuilt the Tuff Wheels by doing new cad plating and re-blackening the rear axle, re-blackeded the Ashtabula Stem, powder coated the box bars, new grips, new pedals, new chain, a reproduction padded seat, some cool Kenda white letter tires, Team Schwinn Pad. I think this bike turned out really cool!

Re: 1979 Schwinn Mag Scrambler SX100
Thanks red stick, and thanks for the bikes! This one turned out really cool, reflectors, and all the stock goodies, my wife should love it, althought I will admit, when I got it done I started thinking maybe I should keep it for myself! I restored it at work so she wouldn't know about it. The guys at my work went crazy over it! As a kid I remember staring at the Schwinn BMX catalogs dreaming!

Very cool bike! I had a Red Scrambler 36/36 free wheel when I was a kid, but it mysteriously vanished one day from a bike rack.![]()

Hey Kawittwer,
After I got this bike I used your bike as inspiration for this build. That's way cool it's your original bike, I wish I would have kept mine.
