Bob Haro's Ikonix BMX

Has anyone heard when these are coming and when the freestyler will finally be unveiled?

Re: Bob Haro's Ikonix BMX

The silence is kinda deafening on the Ikonix bike. They were supposed to announce it in the summer but it never happened. The official Web site still mentions that the bike is scheduled for 2012 but I can't see that realistically happening now. It's interesting to note that the reaction to the prototype that Bob Haro revealed in the summer was luke-warm at best so I'm wondering if this influenced their decision to postpone the announcement/release the bike at all? The fact that there has been no announcements or updates suggests that something bigger than just a minor delay has occurred. I'd love to know what has actually happened. Something doesn't seem right.

Re: Bob Haro's Ikonix BMX

The race bike is simply a collection of ideas stolen from  Trek and Team lance armstrong = make every component aero dynamic and then create it in carbon= the madone bike. Ikonix, It probably sucks to ride and im sure that frame will be around 2k, remember I said it first. Carbon is a fad, and another reason to sink consumers for money. Im not against carbon seat posts or seat stays, but forks, bars and complete frames are dangerous.

It depends on how the carbon fiber is used and what it is used for.  It is used quite often in road bikes and mountain bikes and is very popular.  Both my road bike and mountain bike have carbon fiber in the frames and components and it works great.  Just about any material can have a failure and carbon fiber is no different, obviously.  But I have been road biking and mountain biking for many years and have never had an issue with it.

Re: Bob Haro's Ikonix BMX

Don't confuse the race bike with the freestyle bike. And as for taking ideas from trek, many many companies adopted the aero and light ethos before trek ever did and guess what, that's how you make a competitive race bike lol

a fad in BMX or in cycling? CF frames have been around for around 20 years. I don't think it is a fad in cycling in general. It isn't used widely enough in BMX yet to have a chance at being a fad.
