Today's GJS pick up
Lucky enough to pick up this early 2nd gen GJS today. Seller was the 2nd owner that purchased the bike sometime in 80-81 as best as he could remember. Super nice guy that grew up in Warm Springs just a few miles from me in Fremont and raced the same tracks and rode the same trails as I did as a kid in the area. Very cool reminiscing about both of us riding the trails at Honda Hills as kids
She's going to need some serious restoration but has plenty of potential. Under the two separate top coats of red rattle can paint lies the original tangerine orange which will I'm sure will unfortunately need to be refinished. You can see the OG orange in the paint chip on the top of the BB (see pic). The bike is outfitted w/ some pretty cool parts including a Bullseye BB, Redline stamped V bars and a set of undrilled 1st gen JMC forks
Red paint is way to thick to search for a serial #. I'll have some time Wednesday to strip away some paint and find it. I'll update the thread when I do locate the #. Super stoked to add this GJS to my stable. With orange being my favorite color, this will surely be one of my favorites. Hopefully the OG paint is still on the JMC fork as well.
Yes, she spent a little to much time out in the sun ![]()

Re: Today's GJS pick up
Super cool.
Would LOVE to know if it's OG orange. I've never known of an OG orange Gen2. Chrome replace orange and yellow, and chrome was out on Gen1 frames, so, it would be an oddity for sure.
SN will be on the non-drive rear drop, like this:

LOL. Believe it or not the Talon lever is one of my favorite mid school/new school levers besides the red/black adjustable DX levers.
Thanks guys for all the props on the bike. Been knee deep in the kids homework since I posted the thread. Now the wife needs me !!! ![]()

Thanks do much for the info markmc97225. I'll do my best to check that drop out tomorrow and post the serial #. Truly hope it was originally orange! Pretty sure after knocking that chip off it was
I'll layer strip a big area to show the base color.

Grab! Try and get those top layers of paint off with a gas soaked rag or something, maybe the OG paint is good under there, nothing to lose, you never know right! ![]()
