Re: Not just another sucker...

My dad bought me a pair for my 1st bike. I got alot of flats riding in the fields in AZ. He tried like hell but couldnt get them mounted. He even soaked them in hot water with no help. Back to the store they went. I learned some new cuss words that day lol He ended up buying me no-flat tubes instead

Re: Not just another sucker...

Imagine filling your inner tubes with cement...that's how they ride. In '78 I was working at a bike shop down here and the owner brought those things in. He thought it would be a great idea to put them on my race bike to promote them. I thought it was a terrible idea but he was my sponsor so he won. After scrachting the hell out of my blue Arayas we finally got them on, and I took it for a test ride in the parking lot. Within 2 minutes I managed to peel the front one off while turning, so we took them off and reinstalled them with sew-on glue. We went to the track that night and after a couple of laps I had to swap my 44 tooth chainring for a 41 just to get out of the gate. It literally felt like my rims weighed 50 pounds apiece, and you felt every single bump and rut in the track. I pretty much got last every moto and I was done with Super Suckers. They truly lived up to their name.

Re: Not just another sucker...

These things were HORRIBLE.

When I was a kid, my friend Jimmy had a set of these on his Stingray. I don't know what was worse, the rocks always getting stuck in the holes, or the rear getting worn down by using the brakes and getting out of round. That damn bike made a distinctive "kathumpthump" sound you could hear around the neighborhood.
