1984 GT Seat - Decal / Template / Silver Leaf - HELP!!!!!!
Hi,
I have two 1984 GT seats. One blue in VGC and one Black that I have polished and made perfect!
I am stuck now as I the "GT BMX" is virtually worn off both seats both sides.
I have seen some guys spray them - thus they must have a template, but they never seem to look that great.
Would really appreciate some help as it will finish off my build!!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are you asking for? It doesn't ask for what you want, the template?

Re: 1984 GT Seat - Decal / Template / Silver Leaf - HELP!!!!!!
I think he's looking for a decal or template or whatever he can find . . I looked for the same help a while back and resorted to brushing on silver leaf with marginal results. I'm watching this one cuz I'm sure somebody's figured this out better than I did.

Re: 1984 GT Seat - Decal / Template / Silver Leaf - HELP!!!!!!
Thanks for the reply mtbwrxwagon
The original is not a decal, it seems to be sprayed on or maybe even silver leaf?
I am just wondering how people normally solve it. I cant even see how a steady hand would sort it if you did spray it.
Thought it may be easier to cheat and use a decal.
The seat is here:

and here

Thanks again - just after some suggestions

Re: 1984 GT Seat - Decal / Template / Silver Leaf - HELP!!!!!!
Don't be sorry . . for the demand on these seats (with good logos), I'm surprised that a good solution isn't common knowledge by now. I think my solution of freehanding some silver leaf on is a good one if you're any good at that type of thing, I'm not. There are discernable lines at the edges of the logo to work within. I think if I tried it a couple more times it'd look ok. One other thought I had was just a Sharpie silver pen in fine point.

Re: 1984 GT Seat - Decal / Template / Silver Leaf - HELP!!!!!!
Cheers Bub. I have two of these seats, one blue - unused and one black that cost me £400 GBP (Unreal prices) after I paid UK import.
It is excellent really, I polished a few scuffs but no matter what I look at with the decal, the lines are just no crisp.
I thought if I could get someone who had one to take a high RES photo, I could maybe use Photoshop and create a template to spray around.
Bit shocked there are no decals available. I did try and trace over the slight indent but its not enough to create anything with.
Hopefully someone will know an answer! Its all I need to finish my build!! ![]()

OK, I've got a question. If someone gave you a template in a electronic format, are you capable enough to get it printed out then do what with it? The artwork is actually relatively easy to get your hands on, but I was wondering what you'll do from there. It's kinda delicate to "cut-out" once you print it out. Any ideas?
Oh, decals that small will have a hard time sticking to the seat because of the non-smooth surface.

Have you tried Ultrahive? It is the same font as the downtube decal on a GT Pro . . just a different size I think.

So after reading it again, you do not want the winged logo, but the GT•BMX logo right?

I think Louis' first priority is the online (ebay) biz, but he'll get back to you eventually.

I had thought to carefully cut out by hand with a surgical scalpel but then not sure what silver would look right anyway.
The decal might stick as the seat is smooth there (except where there is slight indent from the stamp that put the original on)
Make sense?

I have asked on eBay - will ask again though. Pretty sure I read that he had stopped doing bespoke requests though ![]()

Re: 1984 GT Seat - Decal / Template / Silver Leaf - HELP!!!!!!
I'll have the artwork for you in a second, the problem is getting it to where you could spray through it to the seat. Understand there are holes in the "B" on BMX and those knockouts won't float for you to spray, plus the detail is very small. It would be great to have this cut from plastic to have durability or metal if laser cut IMO.

The thing Orange (Julian) forgot to mention that the GT-BMX text is different on the 84' seat compared to the more available 85'-86' seats the GT is completely different!!

Good point, but don't the 84s come in both? The smaller font is much more rare, but i've seen plenty of 84s with the large (85) font.

Re: 1984 GT Seat - Decal / Template / Silver Leaf - HELP!!!!!!
Thanks Finny! I did include a couple of links to the seats, would have helped if I included the photo's! Just spoken to a laser cutter who thinks he can do the job but will be £120 GBP! Most expensive seat in BMX history!!

But you can make you $$ (or ££) back by spraying others in the area for a fee ![]()

About the above artwork, you realize that it's the same artwork just larger or smaller depending on how you look at it. The artwork I'll send you won't be sized to anything specific, you'll have to get the measurements for each and size them proportionally, piece o'cake.
