Skyway Factory Shop Bike
My friend that works at Skyway factory built this bike up using a mix of stuff. The frame and forks have some cosmetic damage from shipping and some of the other parts were switched over from an old redline he had as his previous shop bike. He invited me over to check it out and take it for a spin. Its raining cats and dogs up here so I just pedaled it around the shop a little bit. Its got a great new school feel to it. I got to chat with Ken C. for a few minutes. As usual talking to that guy is major flashback of old school memories. I never want to tie up to much of his time so I only ask him a few things and then just sit back and listen. I asked him why they didnt manufacture a Z type rim. He said they did and even a hub of the same material. He still has one of them around. However they weren't satisfied with the way it held up Andy Patterson just destroyed them so they didnt go with that design. On a different note kind of funny, I brought a pair of NOS blue sumo rims to show my friend, that I'm going to use on the new 20" and got a hard time for bringing a spoked wheel to the factory Bart leaned it up against the wall and made like he was going to taco it. We all had a good laugh it was funny as heck. Good times on an otherwise boring rainy day!

Re: Skyway Factory Shop Bike
I see so many skyway threads and rumors/miss information. I didn't know companies even made replica reproduction bikes until the other day. Hell I had no idea you can buy limited edition released frames/parts.

Here is a link to an album with captioned photos from when I met the dudes from skyway at the local track and was lucky to be invited me to come visit the factory. I took my son with me that day we were treated royally, got to go everywhere and take pics of everything even Kens office and I just still cant believe I live in the same town as my favorite bike company, they are making bikes again and the people there are cooler than I would have ever imagined... It was hard to remember to take pics with all the RAD things to look at and talk about so this is really just a glimpse its seriously a museum and a factory. The rest of the times I have visited has been mainly for some specific bike reason not a factory tour so I dont ask to take a bunch of pics... even though I could spend hours in there!

I couldnt agree with you more Ed, I still ride my OG bike from BITD and the others I have collected as well as my new cruiser. The new 20 has a definite difference in the way it sits , feels and rides as well as the advantage of brakes that work good. Looped out on my 84 XL yesterday doing a wheelie didnt hit the brake hard enough came so close to landing on my butt because I've been riding the cruiser and those brakes stop on a dime!
