!!!!!!!!!!1977 Mongoose Motomag Information Needed!!!!!!!!!!

I bought a 1977 Nickel Mongoose Motomag frame off of a local guy about two weeks ago. This frames nickel plating has been cleaning up really well but the frame itself looks a little bit stumpy to me, haha. I measured the top tube and it is 16.5 inches long. I thought motomags where 18.5 inches long.... First off what is it exactly? Is it a common thing? Who would have bought it new and for what reason? If I had a guy offering to trade me an 18.5" TT motomag that was comparable in every way aside from the TT lengths being 2 inches different would I need to ask for a cash difference, would they be exactly comparable in value, or should he expect a cash difference from me?
Thanks everyone in advance for tolerating my questions. I have attempted to search and came up with no solid information, I hope at least one of you is willing to share your knowledge and opinion with me.

That was called a standard, and the 18.5 frame was the long. They were only made through '77 or early '78.It is known as the short frame,or shorty nowadays.

Since the 18.5 frame was in production for so much longer,it should be pretty clear which is the rarer frame.

So is a 1977 motomag with a 18.5" TT more common then a 1977 motomag with a 16.5" TT?

I think the 18.5 was more common even when these were in production.
