1999 GT Show
1999 GT Show
Since I have been asked for pics of the rare 1999 rainbow decaled and ball burnished aluminium GT Show frame set, I decided to add one to the museum.
The only way to get the bare aluminium (GT called it ball burnished or hi-polished) was to buy it as a frame set.
You could get the full bike only in frost blue.
The 1998 ball burnished Show was the same color as the 1999 ball burnished Show but the decals were red on the 1998 Show and the 1999 ball burnished Show had rainbow decals like the 1999 Tour if you got the ball burnished color and if you got the blue 1999 Show it had white decals.
It was only ever listed as an option in the GT dealer catalog and was not in the normal GT catalog.
Im guessing that the 1999 rainbow Show frame kit was the 1998 Show frame kit and GT wanted to clear out the old 1998 models so they created the rainbow decals for 1999 and called it a 1999 Show since the 1998 Show and the 1999 Show had identicle frames but GT changed the frame for 2000 and 2001.
The 1999 Tour was also available in a dealer book only chrome frame set that had the rainbow decals. It was also probly a chrome 98 model frame that was left over so GT added rainbow decals since the complete Tour bike only came in black for 99 but the black frame had rainbow decals also.
I hope everyone enjoys this post and if you want any info on the rainbow Show, just let me know!

Re: 1999 GT Show
Hi Johnny,
I just looked under the Ebay completed listings and I found it. I didnt even see it on Ebay this week. Its ironic that right after I list one on the museum, another one appears on Ebay. Life is strange sometimes. Thanks for letting me know. ![]()
