85 Japanesse GT Pro Performer Serial Number Question
I have a chrome 85 GT Pro Performer made in Japan serial number starting 5X07 and ending with a baseball stamp on the rear drop out and i know that its a July built 85 but what i want to know is if the remanding numbers mean production count?

Yes, the numbers after the date code would be the production sequence... but remember they were building frames at different factories, so even if you have xxxx0001 it might not be the first production model.

Fabrication of BMX which started in 1979 at Koizumi, all came from a single factory regardless of Brand. Some items such as Forks (later in 1983) were outsourced to Tange and Hokuyo kogyo though it is understand there were streams of number sequences allocated to a specific Brand, although there have been indications that was not always the case. ![]()
