MY NEW GT JR. PERFORMER PROJECT JUST ARRIVED: BUILD&RESTORATION THREAD
Stay tuned. Tons of pics with info, description and the build process to come.
I can not sit still. I have been tested for A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. and have neither. I don't need coffee, I just need a B.M.X. or surfboard to consistently ride and I'll be happy.

Here it is. I thought it was a 92'. The serial I believe says 89......

top nut must have been damaged in shipping because the stem wouldn't fit it.

My little brother loved it when I showed him. He decided to take it for a spin. ![]()

Now that I have it, i dont think its a 92'. I thought it was a 92. But I think it's an 89'. Here's a pic of the serial.
Drops are in great shape. Serial reads GH89...... Isn't it an 89'?

Slightly......just the top of the box. I'm not sure if the box was dropped, but in the original sale pics it looks the stem is sitting inside the headset. Unless he switched the top nut after the pics.....the box was slightly ripped though on top. It well could have been like that before shipping. Nothing seems wrong with the fork or head tube or anything.....
The whole bike was put in a box wrapped in a blanket with the pedals and bars with stem separate. Wasn't really disassembled. It could have also flopped around in the box in shipping. Below is a pic of how the bike came shipped and wrapped in the blanket. You can see where the top nut ripped right through the blanket and even made a whole right through the top of the box.

Ya' it is. Not sure what the plan is for it. Probably to keep it original. Try and find some GT tires for it, I don't think the post is OG. It has a coaster rear and a hand rear brake that is a bulldog. I definitely don't think the lever and brake are OG, as well as the headset and possibly the stem. Did these come with a coaster brake originally? Also, what type of rims, hubs, stem and grips came on this. As far as parts, what's OG and what not?

I was 6 years old in 1990. This bike would have been perfect for my age and size in that year.

Nice, since I think mine is a 90', not sure if the parts that came on it would be different. Your stem looks different. As well as you have a laid bask seat post. I'm not sure if my post is OG.
It would be cool to find the catalog add for 1990 on this jr. Performer if anyone knows or has any info on it. I will be bringing this tomorrow to the bicycle source if anyone wants to check it out in person.
