Another ugly mutt only a parent could love...

I've dragged home many bikes from thrift shops or junk piles, and put several of them back together and given them to kids in the neighborhood.

One of the kids stopped by to show me the most recent paint job he had given to the Frankenbike I had made for him out of a Next, a Magna, and a Pacific:

Yes, fugly as all hell, but he's ridden the snot out of this thing, to the point where he's bent axles and cranks, and I've replaced the tires several times over.

Re: Another ugly mutt only a parent could love...

I spend a ton of money on my sons race bikes and fun bikes.  I never had parents who cared and my goal has been the exact opposite.

You sir are doing a very cool service for your community.

That looks like one of my bikes, when I was young.

Thanks for posting.

IMO, a Next, Magna, & Pacific Frankenbike ridden to hell is a lot better than a grail, carpet queen that never gets ridden.

And props to you for helping the kids out.

Did you need a set of OPC to replace the bent ones? I should have one sitting around. LMK

Have to give you props for helping out the kids in your community.  It's awesome that you're helping them and getting kids interested in riding.

A sight for sore eyes to the blind would be awful majestic. It would be the most beautiful thing that they ever had seen. It would cause such surprise, it would make all of their minds electric. How could anyone tell them that some things are not what they seem?

Hell, I've owned much worse.  I had a Columbia copy of a stingray that looked like it was from the island of misfit toys.
