Hutch helmet question
hey, i'd like to use a helmet when riding. it doesen't have to be hutch but i would prefer it. ( hutch helmet question ) looked at a few pictures of the older hutch made helmets evens the ones made to look like the older hutch helmets.
does anyone have any information about these, where they were made, by whom, colors, sizes. options available for them. are they still being made today as i have seen one on ebay listed fairly high.
thanks b,

Re: Hutch helmet question
Get one custom made. That is what I'm doing for my motrocycle helmet.
I'll be rocking a Hutch helmet while cruising the streets.
There is a custom Hutch helmet thread around here somewhere. Maybe in th catchall.

No idea.
I'd wager that Hutch when they used either Ecko, Bell or whatever helmet brand they were sponsored by, it was Hutch who sent the helmets out for paint or vinyl stick on graphics to a local firm near the helmet supplier.
Ecko or Bell sends the helmets to the paint shop of Hutch's choosing, paint shop sends finished product to Hutch or one of their distributors to pass onto team members.
For all I know the helmet supplier could have contracted the grahic application work out also.

Re: Hutch helmet question
i'm going to make my own helmet as i'd like to have an open ear hole. as much as the vintage 70's helmets appeal to me, they are a closed ear hole. unless now thinking about it i cut a ear hole into a helmet. ( which is possible ), any one know how to add snap fastener to a helmet.
could i just use velcro i have found both types under a few dollars and a snap tool for a few dollars.

Re: Hutch helmet question
just buy a modern helmet you like and paint it. changing a helmet's structure may cost you your life when you need that helmet most.

Drill holes and mount hockey helmet chin strap snaps. They screw together like a T-nut. Any sports shop selling hockey gear should have them.
