Pick a theme for me

So I've got this brand-new SD-Downtown frame sitting in my basement completely unmolested.  20.25", Acid (consolation prize for not being able to find a dtt pandora in the size i wanted).  I have no idea what I want to do with it or how I should build it.  Keep in mind though, I'm not a big fan of chrome...and i tend to like "in your face" designs.

My other current bike:

http://bmxmuseum.com/image/pict1045_copy0_lg.jpg

Now i already know 4-pegs and 2 brakes is what it's gonna have.  What I don't know is the rest: color scheme, mags vs. spokes, freecoaster vs. freewheel, bars, brakes, headset etc.  I'd like to have some semblence of a theme with this bike--not just a hodge-podge of random, odd-colored parts.

I do have a few random parts I could use on it...but I'm not 100% on if i want to.  They include 3-spoke freewheel mags (black), used mosh freestyle bars (chrome), and the free-agent fork/v-brake combo from my current bike (since i've swapped out for an xcalibur and a matching xposure brake).

So here's your chance.  Tell me what you think would look awesome on this build.

Re: Pick a theme for me

The bike that u have in pic look good... But the hub would look better if it was yellow to match the rest of seat, stem and etc.

Build it, Ride it and Break it. That what it was made for.

Re: Pick a theme for me

No offense but there is a big difference between in your face and gaughty.  chrome and raw always look amazing but you don't like chrome. Maybe go with white.

Freewheel probably won't work either. No way your getting anything above 30t on that frame with a good chain alignment

A sight for sore eyes to the blind would be awful majestic. It would be the most beautiful thing that they ever had seen. It would cause such surprise, it would make all of their minds electric. How could anyone tell them that some things are not what they seem?

I agree, I have yet to see a black/orange build. I know neon colors are in, but I would like to see an orange anno build. I think it may be harder than it sounds to source the parts. Just my 2 cents.....

Each part in different collors nothing matches. That would be a different look.

Re: Pick a theme for me

Pick a company and a color they produce and get every part that company makes in that color so it all matches. Profile parts come to mind and they have many colors to choose from.

You want colors that work together and not clash, thats the difference between in your face and guady.

Re: Pick a theme for me

No but it could get close. Teal wall tires would take it over that line hahah in fact any color wall other than white or tan makes a bike gaudy

I'd like a military theme, you know the flat OD look.

I think it would look good with all Odyssey vapor blue parts.

Re: Pick a theme for me

since you like the adhd in you mf face color schemes....
1. go to wally world and purchase every neon color spray paint in their inventory.
2. purchase beer (large quantities).
3. purchase pelet gun or .22 rifle.
4. go home and set all of the sprayo cans around your frame/parts.
5. slam those brewskies.
6. with your unsteady blurred vision load up the bb gun.
7. point gun in general direction of cans.
8. blindfold yourself.
9. let loose on that trigger finger, and let destiny decide what mix of colors your bike turns out.

have fun! big_smile most of you are reading this as a joke, but I've done projects very similar to what I've described. if you do it right, the outcomes are usually pretty damn rad and one of a kind!!

man post pics if you go with that idea. it's pretty damn fun to try, and if you don't like the results, get some aircraft stripper on a rag and wipe it all off.

Re: Pick a theme for me

shoot the cans from the side and have a decent aim. they spin quite ferociously anyways when they're under full pressure.
