1980 Mongoose Kos Kruiser
1980 Mongoose Kos Kruiser
One of the rarer KOS KRUISER's with all original finish, decals and original finish parts.
Detailed parts list and description coming soon. Stay tuned.
The story on this KOS goes like this....
I have always wanted a KOS KRUISER. When i was younger i was too small to ride one but always loved the way they looked. My buddy's dad always road his around at the track.
-5/15/12: 2:08 P.M. The KOS arrived via UPS. Thanks to Curtis. (CurtiswithaC) I finally found what i was looking for. An early made KOS KRUISER with all original finish chrome and decals. It even still has the original chromoly tubing sticker on the top tube as well as the original bike shop sticker where it was purchased from, ORANGE CYCLE WORKS, ORLAND0. As well as the beautiful survivor finish frame and fork i received from Curtis, i also got a very nice set of ukai wheels laced to a rear bendix coaster and a front Shimano hub. As well as some nice original finish Shimano 600 cranks, Mongoose seat post, Mongoose double clamp stem and a Mongoose seat clamp.
I made a build thread which i will post a link of below. Once this baby arrived, it was time to get started on the parts hunt. I first began to look for some original finish KOS KRUISER bars. It took about three months but Scraplord stepped up to the plate with a near perfect mint set uf maurice stamped KOS bars. Then I slowly started piecing it together Goose bit by Goose bit. Og goose grips from (MarvinGarden), OG finish Mongoose stamped B/B from (Ol'phart), OG finish Mongoose stamped headset from (Bmx-Classics), NOS Winners Choice tires from (BIGGM), mint finish blue rat taps from (JOE BUFFARDI). Thanks a bunch for all your help guys. Without you all, I could not have completed my build.
PLEASE STAY TUNED FOR MORE PICTURES TO BE POSTED HERE. ALSO, FEEL FREE TO CHECK OUT THE LINK BELOW FOR THE BUILD PROCESS FOR THIS BIKE.

I can not sit still. I have been tested for A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. and have neither. I don't need coffee, I just need a B.M.X. or surfboard to consistently ride and I'll be happy.

Thanks man. It took a lot of time and patience. It still not finished.
I'm still after a set of blue matching Mongoose vinyl pads in mint condition. The stem pad needs to fit a double clamp GOOSE stem too. ![]()

Nice build, looking good.
What kind of tires are those? The tread and side wall look different than the WC tires.

Thanks Daygo. ![]()
They are different tires. The tires pictured above are called "SWALLOW" tires. I took the pics with my riders on since i have been riding the KOS so much. The WC tires I have are fairly dry on the sidewalls even though they were NOS, so I don't ride with them. Ill post a few pics up with the WC tires in a few.

Re: 1980 Mongoose Kos Kruiser
Here some pics with the winners choice tires before I got the frame cable mounts and an OG dated DC lighter blue brake cable. That's why I didn't use these pics. Then I put the other tires on it since I have been riding it so much. So I just decided to leave them for the pics. Ill use the WC tires for shows only I guess.
