Cheeta Company/Frame Info

So, I know they were a small US company who made frames from around 2000-2005.  I've owned one of the race frames and know a decent bit about them.  I'm trying to learn more about the freestyle frame though, the DAB.  From the one in the museum and the small info I can see - they were made in 2005?  Does anyone have any more info at all?  What does DAB mean?  Were they only made in '05? etc.

Thanks!

Re: Cheeta Company/Frame Info

Anybody have any input on the company or frame at all?  Only new thing I found is a guy that said they shut down in '02 or so..didn't make it to '05.

Re: Cheeta Company/Frame Info

They stopped making bikes in '03 ...biz closed, etc etc.
Now some other guy owns the rights (along with a few other companies he bought)... I am in touch with Cheeta's old team manager and she says "They'll produce another frame in 2013".

Best bet - look in some older bmx mags.. you can get an idea when Cheeta started / stopped selling bikes ('98/'99 to '03)  and probably read some reviews on the frames.
I have a few mags with Teamline reviews ...but never cared for the DAB at all.

Re: Cheeta Company/Frame Info

thread revived....

I have what might be a prototype or test Cheeta. Any chance we could share info? Here are some pics......

No stamps or decals on it. a few scratches and one area of coating is chipping but otherwise only "notable" marking is what appears to be a proposed cut line using sharpie on one of the rear dropouts.

I've decided to hold on to the frame until I can get some more info. I emailed the poster of the only Cheeta in the museum. The frame I have is exactly the same but in black and as I said, no decals. And yes! it's damn heavy!!!

Re: Cheeta Company/Frame Info

I had a green one back in the day. Switched to a lighter frame almost right away and it sat in the shed until I sold it to someone on here awhile ago. The serial number on mine was on a sticker on the bottom bracket and had nothing stamped on it.

Re: Cheeta Company/Frame Info

Try contacting the new owner of Cheetah. Maybe he ended up with some older decals when he purchased the company. They also have been selling the old stock of frames on Ebay the past few years

Re: Cheeta Company/Frame Info

wow, great info on a bike that I couldn't find any information on whatsoever. OK so now, the real question, is it worth anything or "its worth what someone will pay for it" frame......seems the like the company owner had a bad reputation and the bike isn't particularly special besides being rare and indestructible.

I picked it up in a lot sale and have no interest in it really other than the information which Inow have.
