Re: OMG!!! LOOK AT THE REPAIR ON THIS!
Thanks guys
I had a junk 4130 frame that I saved just for the top of the seatmast to repair this, I just haven't been able to find the time to fix it...
The fix was cheap and easy
I just cut it off, slid it over the seatpost I had inserted in the hole, scribed it to the frame so I had a 1/16" gap then just tacked it in a couple spots. Checked to be sure the post would go in and out. Made a few minor adjustments and added a few more tacks. Once it was were I wanted it, I layed a nice bead all the way around, ground the weld and finished it with a scotchbright pad on the grinder.
The frame is in beautiful condition otherwise so this will make a really clean rider for me. ![]()

Yeah, ya missed metal finishing 101...
Bead is gone... Ground down and metalfinished. Tomorrow you will never know it was cut.
And yes, IF the bike was rare, it might warrant my time to replace the entire mast. We're not talking about a GJS or VDC though. It's just another repaired master. ![]()

JOKE;A GUY WALKS INTO THE BAR AND ORDERS 3 DOUBLE SHOTS OF TEQUILIA. AS SOON AS THE BARTENDER POURS THE SHOTS THE GUY INSTANTLY SLAMS THEM DOWN. THE BARTENDER SAYS"YOU SURE DRANK THOSE QUICK BUDDY" AND THE GUY SAYS"YOU WOULD TO IF YOU HAD WHAT I HAVE" THE BARTENDER TAKES A FEW STEPS BACKWARDS AND SAYS "WHAT DO YOU HAVE?" AND THE GUY SAYS"A BUCK FIFTY" PICK UP LINE: I MAY NOT BE THE BEST LOOKING GUY IN THIS BAR BUT I AM THE ONLY ONE TALKING TO YOU.

Man, you guys with those skills amaze me. I probably would have just had to make some decorative wall art with it. Good job!

Re: OMG!!! LOOK AT THE REPAIR ON THIS!
Thanks guys! Trying to figure how to get these Heffer hubs to work on the fork right now. PITA. Looks like I'm going to have to slot my own axle. Nobody around here has a 1/2" slotted axle.

Re: OMG!!! LOOK AT THE REPAIR ON THIS!
Started out the day figuring out how to make these Haro Heffer hubs laced to NOS Super 7X hoops fit. The rear was easy, just slotted the 1/2" axle but the front I needed to swap the axle to a 14mm slotted because the width of the stock keeper nuts wouldn't allow it to fit the fork.

Once that was out of the way, I stripped the paint then repainted it...
