Skyway Forks.. Start To Finish...

I have a small few QTYs of Skyway Forks & always wanted to make a display to show the history from A to B..

So here tis..

Top Left = Late 70s Tuff Forks
Top Right = OG TA Race Fork.
Bottom Left = Proto Race/F'Style Forks.. I suspect 1st Gen Freestyle using OG TA Dropouts..
Bottom Right = 300TA Race Forks.. New Never Used..

Enjoy!!!!

Re: Skyway Forks.. Start To Finish...

Cool display, I was talking with Ken Coster at Skyway and he was telling me about the proto freestyle fork you have, that was his first thought about the forks on my bike before confirmed that the bike I found was truly a 1981 prototype! I have seen his office he has a tuff fork, the first OG race bars and the EZ bars. He even told me about a TA prototype in the raw he still has that was never plated and has an integrated seat clamp! Its a museum over there lol

I agree there has to be more than 5 sets, I recently got one with an 84 XL, more area is welded, the welds looks thicker, the weep holes are larger and the notch on the steer tube is facing the front for some reason. The seller said he got it from a friend but made no mention of any factory connection, I have also seen beat up survivors on ebay with the non cut fork as well.

That display looks great but you should add the Japan made TA fork because they have a slight rake that the U.S one didn't as well as other subtle differences.

Always looking for nice / rare SKYWAY bikes, parts & gear.

Johnnny is right, you need to post this in the vaults for all to reference.

Re: Skyway Forks.. Start To Finish...

Heres the Forks as mentioned..

From a previous thread here app 2yrs back (I cant find it) these were put on here to find out more..

We found out that there were 5x Sets like these made in the Nickel Chrome for Bob, Andy & Cheri to race with.  I got these from our Aussie Skyway Factorry team rider who said he received them as US Team Proto's...

Thats all I know, they are more of a Nickle than a chrome but are certainly the US not the Jap made.............
