1997 GT Vertigo

My CL rider project

Picked this up off of my local CL for $30. It was pretty well thrashed. Hadn't seen any lube since it was new, frozen brakes, warped rims, partially spray bombed silver, rusty, etc., etc. I was going to get the whole thing powdered but I really like the green splatter over black so I started dabbing with a rag (q-tips in the tight spots) and some laquer thinner and with some patience, removed the silver spray without ruining the original finish. It still has its fair share of scratches but it is a survivor after all. All of the bearings were dry but I saved the headset and BB. Some of the bearings in the wheels were flat spotted so they were replaced as well as the typical wear items like grips and cables. I polished all of the aluminum and powdered the bars and crank since the chrome was peeling and unsaveable. Overall, I'm pleased. It was a fair amount of work but she rides like new and feels neutral, if a bit heavy. There may be some upgrades in the future but for now its a fine rider for a small price. Hope you like it!
