My newest tour pick up...NOS '78 Roger DeCoster!

So when I was in Spokane on the last tour a few months back, I was introduced to a stagehand that was riding an old Schwinn cruiser...he tells me his father used to run a bike shop BITD, and when it closed, they put a lot of the stock in a storage barn...he had mentioned the DeCoster, and I said I may be interested in it....when we hit Spokane on Friday, we touched base, and he brought the frame by...we struck a deal, and he also included a mismatched set of Tuff Wheels...the front was a Tuff I from '79 and the rear was a Tuff II with a suntour coaster brake..both wheels look as if they have never had a tire on them...also got a set of '86 or '87 Haro Master forks....and an older Persons Race seat....the frame does have some oxidation in the nickel, but has never been assembled...I plan on giving it an OA bath once I get  home from tour next week, and will post some more pics once I'm done...

I have a nickle Redline Squareback that was dull and I was thinking the same. I actually brought it to a polisher and he told me about this product called Luster Pad. I could not believe how the bike turned out. It took me 15 minutes and the nickle shines like new! I was blown away. I've tried alot of different polishes but this is by far the best! I think an OA bath might be a little extreme, I like the Patina, but like mentioned, a light polish with McQuiers or ^^^ that stuff would likely make it new again with out actually "eating" away at the finish.

Cool score for sure!

Couldn't have said it any better....elbow grease and a rag, no harsh chemicals on that pretty ass frame.

Nice little gem there.

I wouldn't be here today if the old school didn't pave the way.

I would never touch that frame with anything. It is in great condition and has the original decals. The patina makes it look authentic. The bling look with reprop decals ruins the originality.

BTW let me know if you ever want to sell it. I rode a DeCoster bitd and would love to have one.

Hmmm. I wonder if Luster Pad will clean the cymbals for my drum set. I have yet to find a good cymbal cleaner that does not involve hours of work and black hands.

I've used Never Dull wadding and it is ok. Still messy though. I'll see if I can find Luster Pad up here.

Re: My newest tour pick up...NOS '78 Roger DeCoster!

Thanks everyone...the frame does have one bad spot at the front from what looks like may have been moisture...what do you think?
