Re: 1986 Dyno Compe

This is a strange one but I know for sure that it is pre-88.  It has the decals correct for an 85 or 86 D-30 Compe or Compe II.  I don't think those decals were ever replaced because the head badge still retains the "Compe" lettering.  I have not seen any decal sheets that specifically say "Compe" on them other than on complete bikes from the factory.  Most of the components seem correct for an 86 Compe II.
Are those SR/Sakae pedals?  What model number are they?  The seat and seatpost clamp are correct for 88+, but I think those were added on later.
The bars, stem, epoch headset, GT mags, GT layback are all correct for the compe II.  It should have double non-boxed plates behind the seat mast at the top tube junction.  It can be either a US or Japanese frame.  If the serial number is on the dropout it's US, if it's on the BB it's Japanese.  I have both japanese and US frames and the Japanese built ones are at least as good quality as US.  It's not until production moved to Taiwan that quality suffered.
I would definitely be interested if you want to part with it.

Here's an ad for the 86 Compe II which is what I believe yours started out as...

Re: 1986 Dyno Compe

Japanese G series of 1986.  Yours is a little later than mine but still an 86.  It has two support plates behind the seat tube right?

Re: 1986 Dyno Compe

Red?  I don't believe there was a red Dyno until 88.
