Whats is this looptail?
Strange thing is it looks like an 82 blue max without the gusset by the look of its dropouts. Could it be possible that during the transition from 82-83 they continued to use 82 dropouts on 83 non-gussetted frames?

These double hole dropouts dont step down like the calis. I can only find these on the earlier blue-maxes...hmmm

1983 Blue Max
1983 Mongoose californian
They were the exact same frame sets. Really thers no way to tell the difference. I would just pick which one you like the best, and order some decals. Should be a beautiful bike when done. Good luck!

No the 83 cali had the stepdown style drop to this one is just difrent.

Ill measure and get back to you. I had lined it up against my other 83 taiwan cali and dimensions were good match. Only diff is dropouts, and also the holes in rear tubing arent pressed, they are drilled as they dont dimple in . There is only one other on bmxmuseum like this and its a blue max, same dropouts but that one could be in wrong category maybe?

Looks just like my Californian.

That's what it looks like to me(July '83 Blue Max). I have an August '83 with a gusset.
It seems that June-August 1983 shows some inconsistency in appearence options.
