Unprotected polished aluminum
How durable would a polished aluminum part be? Would it just be smarter to get these parts chromed?

Re: Unprotected polished aluminum
What? Aluminium does oxidize, but at a much slower rate than steel and does not rust like iron. So - no, it wouldn't be smarter to chrome the parts. It might not be as tough as chrome and will bruise or mark easier but other than that it's great and imo better than chrome!

I love aluminum, it doesn't rust!! Just oxidizes. and you can always re-polish if a scratch gets made. Still love chrome tho. ![]()

Re: Unprotected polished aluminum
Just put some spray wax on your unpolished aluminum to slow oxidization. Don't chrome. Let alone the cost, it will add lots of weight.
Chromed aluminum won't extend the life unless it's kept in ideal conditions -and if ideal, than it won't oxidize anyway.
