The finish on my full wrap single pinch flights. How to proceed?
So I was tearing down my 86 RL20 Prostyler today and realized how bad my flight crank arms are. I could tell they were in poor shape while on the bike but after removing them I was able to see the full scope of what I am dealing with. Pitting, missing chrome around welds, and chrome has been polished to the next layer in some areas.
How would you proceed with these?
* Try to strip, polish and rechrome? Might not work out and could be costly for a bad result.
* Prime and paint over existing finish? Would be easiest.
* Have chrome stripped and powder them or paint them? Is it necessary to strip the chrome?
I'd prefer not to leave them as is. I don't want them to get any worse even though they will be on a rider.

No matter what option you do other than leaving them alone they will have to be blasted to remove everything before a new finish of anything will stay on and look good. Re-chrome will cost the most, powder coat second, rattle can third and nothing is free. What looks best with the bike they are on? hard to beat chrome, go's with anything, but powdered black or red looks good too, or a custom color.

I think black or chrome would look best in this case.

Looks like I may be looking into having them stripped and then painted or powdered. Will most likely go with black.
