I`ve done many RL20II paint jobs and kept the measurements for the black BB and tri-color sceme. Where the color meets the black BB does not need to be faded because decals cover the two colors where they meet. The colors on the seat-stay need to be faded, about a 1" fade. Also, fade the dark color into the lighter color. Do the black first.
Put the main color (kiwi, mango, red, etc) on and paint the whole frame then cover what doesn`t get grey so you don`t get overspray. The grey goes on now, don`t worry about the fade. Cover the grey now. Ready for the fade, cover the black and uncover the areas where the fade would be. If you look at it now the fade goes grey to main body color, it doesn`t look good does it? Spray your main color and fade it into the grey, about a 1" fade.
UPDATE Keep in mind about the fade. It looks better with the darker color fading into the light color. I`ve done many and I think I faded the red into the grey. If the grey is darker then fade it tinot the other color but if it`s not then fade the other color into the grey.
