Re: Who is Kevin jones? ......God.

As a kid I had a dorking vid, mom saw it and thought Kevin was a deamon spinning & scooting his bike like Some majic voodo to call Demond dogs from hell. Then she saw him ramping his sk8 ramp flying high in the sky trying to grab god & bring him down to his depths of demonic flatland skills of witchery.. Blaring some ritchual getto songs doing a surfer then actual crossed his legs & floated in mid air above his skyway.... Kevin jones is the devil my friends don't stair at his skills for to long or you might fall into his trace of sourcery...

If I didn't freestyle yesterday, I wouldn't be freestyling today.

Re: Who is Kevin jones? ......God.

My brother and I went to Woodward in '96. The first day we were there we were watching some guys ride the foam bike and resi. I see this guy on a big daddy, learning back flips into the pit, then the resi, finally on the big box jump over the coarse of an hour. As he rode by and gave us the what's up nod, I realized it was Kevin Jones! I never really knew him to ride ramps, but man he looked like he was having fun. It always made me think, this guy just rides for fun, whatever he feels like on that day, flat, ramp, who knows what else he can do!!

He is pretty awesome!!

That's an amazing story.  Did he look like this?

Kevin and I both learned flips that day after 10 years of thinking about it since Rad came out.  He got it first try, I took three.  The foam pit was brand new and we finally had a chance to make it happen.  Kevin also learned 360 flips into the foam.  He watched Kenan do it about three times and then spun one perfectly.  That's why we called him the K.  Kevin is better at figuring things out in his mind better than anyone I have ever met.  He then has the mind/body connection to make it happen.

One of the funnest things we did that day was see how high we could jump.  It's hard to say who went higher but these pics show we both got our boost on.  Kevin rode his Big Daddy because that was all he had.  I built up a jumper out of old junk I had in my garage.  I'm on a spray bombed Skyway TA XL.  I might be the only person to have learned flips on that frame!

Re: Who is Kevin jones? ......God.

Cracks me up that someone was there and remembered it!  Looking back now I see one of the greatest things about the Plywood Hoods is we were freestylers.  Still are too.  We rode everything and anything.  It's all just riding.  Labeling it is just semantics like saying I did front wheel hops vs. back wheel hops.  Just another day of riding.  I still ride parks a lot.  Kevin prefers dirt but still rides parks and streets out from time to time.  It's been one long, continuous ride.  Still fun too.
