The 09 retro Haro freestylers

Are they worthless? I know they missed the mark, but has the latest Haro frame set rendered these totaly not worth owning? Just wondering....

Re: The 09 retro Haro freestylers

if you plan on riding it and can find one cheap the 09 would be worth owning, most people bash it because it the 09 that was released wasn't full chromoly when the prototype was chromoly. but it rides nice and feels sturdy despite not being full chromoly, if you can find one cheap I'd say go for it and customize it to your liking.

Re: The 09 retro Haro freestylers

What would be a good price for a stocker? Seems like they all got changed out from stock to personal preferance. I also wondered how many people could actually ride it hard enough to need full cromo? There are a TON of completes being sold today that are chock full of hi tensil steel. If they were THAT bad I can't see manufacturers building them.

I'm not really sure on what they cost these days but if you could find one for $300- $350 that would be a fair deal, I paid $450 for mine brand new in 09 but kinda felt like I over paid since the stock parts were not that great. once upgraded the 09 is quite a nice rider with the right parts.

as long as your not getting like 10-20 feet of air off of half pipes and jumping stair cases I think the 09 would hold up just fine, basically it just depends on what type of riding you do. mine has held up fine to street riding and dirt jumping but then again I'm not getting huge air and jumping off 6ft drop offs.

it's really not that bad of a bike, it mainly gets hated on because of how the prototype was full chromoly with a integrated head tube and haro decided to release something completely different from the prototype. also keep in mind that haro also released a retro haro sport in 05 and 06 so you also have those as a choice if you want a haro retro complete.

It's comparing Apples to Oranges. The new ones should have no effect on the previous retros because the old ones were built to be ridden and the new ones are unlikely to be built and used a lot. Some will, but they are display pieces for the most part. I'm more curious what the re-issues do to the price of the "real" ones...

I have been keeping my eyes open for one of the Master Retros myself. I just like the way they look and think it's cool that they payed homage (or at least tried to) to their past.

I have one that has never been ridden. They look sweet. I might sell it forty. I gotta make some money back from that new haro.

Re: The 09 retro Haro freestylers

I rode one and it felt fine.  It wasn't stock with the tuffs.  They are still out there.  I know of 2 in shops.  I love the way people have repainted them.  Look better than stock.  Like the one above.

I'm pretty sure there was more then 500, they were still available new over a year after they were released and were still easy to find brand new up until the beginning of 2011.

Re: The 09 retro Haro freestylers

Check "my bikes".  I had a cool one about 2 years ago.  It was customized with some nice parts but was too heavy for my liking as a rider.  It did however look cool sitting in my garage...lol.

Grammar is important. Capital letters are the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse, and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

Wow! Not only did you give it away but you gave it away for free. Do you usually charge to give stuff away? Way to be positive!

Re: The 09 retro Haro freestylers

I'm going to have to check mine. Thought it was more than 500 though.
These bikes make great riders and are even better when personally customized. If I wasn't starting another project I'd keep mine as my main rider. But unfortunately I need to fund my new project so it'll be going to someone else in a couple weeks.
Don't under-estimate these retros, they're lots of fun, ride great and not as expensive as an older master. And the best thing is you can beat them up without getting that sick feeling in your stomach if you happen to really mess something up like you would with an older more collectible model.

Re: The 09 retro Haro freestylers

I am fairly positive there were 750 made, originally supposed to be 500.  The story I heard was that the original 500 sold so fast Haro wanted to keep it going, and that is when the sales slowed down to a creep.  I think people were bummed about the production extension.

My son rides an original with graphites and cool caps, and this is one I customized.  They look cool customized IMO.
