1979 Bianchi Rampilonga

Italian survivor

Got the bike from a friend for free. Several parts were missing and I replaced them with further leftover parts. Can You spot them? First I intended to restore the bike but now I love the shabby survivor look.
The bike is a real lightweight, but it rides as it looks like, -don't ask.

"New" seat,-yes.
GT pedals from a DYNO and a one-piece crankset from a rotten cruiser with a giant chainwheel.
But the handlebars are original, very light and pretty cool.
The old tires fell off the rims, so I took cheap Kendas for 6 Bucks.
Thats all it took. Makes me smile.

Re: 1979 Bianchi Rampilonga

It's nice to see these rare bikes that don't have fifty examples restored to the nines in the museum, I find it amazing that there are so many out there left and it's neat to see that once in a while one gets picked up and left in it's original state ( as much as possible), nice bike.

Thank You for sharing my passion.
An old persian carpet wouldn't bee interesting without some patina too.

Re: 1979 Bianchi Rampilonga

I have to ask....was the back drop chosen for it's color? If not, how ironic! Bianchi green..."celeste"

Re: 1979 Bianchi Rampilonga

Awesome find!  congrats.   Good call leaving it survivor, it would probably be worth next to nothing if repainted/restored.
