E.T Kuwahara Project "Overtime"
I recently purchased this from a guy in Florida, the bike is in transit to the UK as we speak.
As you can see, there is going to be quite a few hours going into this
.
What have I let myself in for :}
.
Something tells me that seat post is going to be a bitch to remove :}
.
I have a KZ1 in the shed, I might have to rob some parts
.
Looks like I'm on the look out for some new wheels
.
Expecting the bike to arrive in the next 10 days. Once its here I'll get some more pictures up of the project in progress

Re: E.T Kuwahara Project "Overtime"
I scored the 2nd highest bid for this bike at ebay...lol.....
http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? … 0962311895
I can do it,so can you.I've restored 3 ET bikes to almost 100% perfect with NOS parts, except I couldnt get any NOS ET seats.I still have another 3-4 more ETs to be restored. Will post them at this museum once I've completed the build.
ET needs black Ukai Speedlines. This is what I bought too from ebay yesterday. My 2nd set of NOS black Ukai Speedlines.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/120999856753?ss … 1439.l2649
and my 6th ET

Lol....
Good luck in your build...if you decide not to build it, give me a buzz...I dont mind having a 7th ET..lol
Cheers.

You were only 3 dollars short on what I was willing to go, although it cost me $150 to ship to the UK. I was watching those wheels as well :} they look nice

Re: E.T Kuwahara Project "Overtime"
USD150 shipped to the UK is considered cheap compared to the normal USD165 - USD185 to ship to Malaysia...
Wow...only USD3 short....I could have place USD808.88 for it....too bad..

Re: E.T Kuwahara Project "Overtime"
Good news , the Kuwahara has landed
, bad news customs have screwed me for £160 in duty :{ . Never mind it will be worth it in the end. Hopefully I can salvage most of the parts . I'm skiving from work and have to get back before the gaffer finds out :} but will have some pictures up at the weekend.

Bath time
After 24 hours were looking a little cleaner

Still not got round to getting that seat post out , whats the best thing to get rid of the oxidisation to help free it up.

Re: E.T Kuwahara Project "Overtime"
I've mentioned your stucked seatpost is in alu. You could use a rust buster type product.
If it's really hard stucked, you can try to leave soaking overnight.

Re: E.T Kuwahara Project "Overtime"
Thanks Spartacus, I will give it a try. I'm now in a dilemma. The frame and forks are in ok condition , obviously the paint work is 30 year old but what is considered survivor. ShouldI just give it a general clean up or fully restore

Re: E.T Kuwahara Project "Overtime"
I always start down the ladder on a resto project. Try to save the original paint with a paint renovator product.
If you're not satisfied with the result then step higher and repaint it. It's your bike so you decide. ![]()

This bike deserves a complete restore.
