Muc-Off:
This stuff looked like a really good product, especially for the collecter/show bike crowd. They had a really nice cyclocross bike that they used the cleaners and polishes on and it looked amazing.

Re: Interbike 2012 - Interesting products
Interesting what they say about sealed bottom brackets, its exactly what I learned when I was a kid. To me sealed bearings made all the sense in the world to some of my friends who were avid highly competitive racers searching for that last tenth of a second they were a major no no, as was heavily lubed parts. I was told that any and all sealed bearings offer resistance, and that you would want to use the lightest and bare minimum grease in all your bearings and allow a little play so that everything spins as freely as possible. This meant less life more maintenance but a much faster bike. they would disassemble new parts to unpack the grease...I thought they were nuts, but as my understanding of all things race progressed they were 100% correct.
WTB Forklifter freestyle bars, no internal rust, perfect ends.
WTB Peregrine Super Pros, not pitted.
WTB Kuwahara freestyle stem engraved.

I think it was Phil's facebook page that linked a very interesting article about loose ball vs sealed bearings. They were talking how if you were serious about racing, you needed at least two sets of wheels, training and racing. You didn't train w/your race wheels, and you didn't race w/your training wheels.
The race wheels/parts were intended to be used for race only, and needed maintenance before and after racing. The training parts were much more durable, in that maint was needed less.

That would make great sense as well, I seem to recall one of my friends had two identical Hutches for that reason. In ski racing which I participate in, you have your training skis and your race skis, its overkill for most but for the elite its what you do to win.

Re: Interbike 2012 - Interesting products
^^^
I've been posting lately (will today again) about an ELF Mini Cruiser I picked up. The previous owner was quite serious about racing (bought in his late 30's and raced into his 40's). Before he shipped it to me, he told me something that was confirmed when I received it. He had intentionally degreased all of the bearings and would use a little oil instead.
I know from my own career in industrial equipment that oil lubricated bearings have certain benefits. I was just surprised to find it on a bike. I have never seen a pedal spin so infinitely. To explain, you could hold the pedal body and spin the shaft and it would rotate quite a few times after release.
In rebuilding the bike, I regreased everything because going oil lubricated would mean constant maintenance and we're not that serious of racers.
Red alert! .....I am down to one pair of red cages. Speak now or forever hold your peace.

Re: Interbike 2012 - Interesting products
Hopefully soon. Once Toby went on his own again after building the THE/Sinz/Intense enterprise, the community knew that something amazing was gonna come out of it. By the looks of that stuff....It'll be top shelf and state of the art for racers.
Giddy for the release.

Re: Interbike 2012 - Interesting products
I've been following the BOX stuff via Toby's Facebook page... Good stuff! I see the 31.8 bars and stem being the future.
Muck Off is great and I've been using it on my MTB stuff for years now
As far as sealed bearings.... On the Profile hubs on my race bike I've popped the seals out and removed all of the grease, trimmed the rubber on the seals where it meets the bearing body and then I remove the seals on the inboard side of the bearings and use a small amount of this lube called Chain L to lubricate the bearings. Phil Wood Tenacious Oil also works well. When you do this you need to re lube the bearings often, but my hubs roll super smooth and spin forever
