2013 GT Performer
2013 GT Performer
2013 GT Performer with retro frame and stickers (85)
This bike was produced in July of 2012 but is listed as a 2013 model on their website. Many folks don't like these bikes and call them garbage or junk. I really think this is a cool looking bike. I bought this bike to have fun and cruise with the family and on my own. I do not plan to thrash it. It is a nice complement to all of my old school rides. Rides very smooth and is WAY lighter than all of my old school Performers.

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, that bike is really cool! I've been checking those out, and will probably get one when I can afford it. Good job.

Nice looking ride. Too bad all the parts are junk.
It rides 100% better with real bars on there. Just dont jump it, or it will look like the one i just posted a pic of. ![]()

Yeah, this bike rides very nice. I'm basically just riding it. I'm not doing any major jumps. I like it a lot though. I rode it probably about 10 miles today. Thing just rides great, i'm tellin' ya.

Re: 2013 GT Performer
I am going to get a bigger set of bars for it eventually. It did not come with the layback. I put that on there and I like it much better that way.

Yeah, it's a stock 2013 26". Many people are hating on these bikes. I get it. Thing is, I just really think it's a cool bike. It looks great, it rides great, it's light. Just a fun bike to ride. My first brand new bmx bike since 1988.

Re: 2013 GT Performer
I agree with you, I think it's very cool. I'm nostalgic for the first generation performers, and if I hadn't just bought a 26 Quadangle, I'd be all over one of these. Ride the tires off that thing!
I don't have time for Nostalgia. I'm too busy thinking about the good old days.

Thanks man! It's nice to hear from a non-hater. The bike is fun. That's all I care about. If it breaks, it breaks. Hell, at 210, all my old school rides always need something fixed too. That's part of the fun for me---working on/restoring bikes.

Re: 2013 GT Performer
I think it looks rad and I have a 2012 Performer 26 myself . I am a bigger guy and I'm pretty hard on things and have ridden my GT 4-5x at Ray's MTB without incident . I do agree however some of the parts needed to be changed - Taller bars , Bigger Chain-wheel , Better Grips , Better Pedals and a different Seat . Most of those are creature comforts . I am also putting a different Brake / Lever on it sometime before Ray's opens this Fall .
It sucks rotkisak had a problem with the fork , but I've seen other bikes - Fit CR-24's , SE Big Ripper , etc...have fork problems too . It is a bike after all , sure the frame might be a newer form of Hi-Ten Steel but I enjoy it , as do you and that's all that matters . ![]()

Re: 2013 GT Performer
Had I known GT was going to come out with these new 26"ers, I probably would have gotten one instead of my Quadangle. These are sick looking! Of course you are going to have to swap out some of the cheaps**t China stock parts, (not many stock parts left on my Quad!) but when your done, it'll be one sweet ass ride! Enjoy it!

Ya know, I'm actually going off what the previous poster said, and experience with cheap parts on the Quad. I don't actually know about the GT parts. My apologies!

well, you can go to gtbicycles.com and they will provide you with a list of GT dealers in your area. Any one of those bike shops they list will be able to order one for you.

no apologies necessary, for real. I was sincerely asking. I don't have any experience riding a new bmx bike. this is the first one i've purchased brand new since 1988. so many people have told me that most of the parts on it are "junk". my assumption is that they have learned from experience due to the parts breaking on them. one dude recently posted a pic of his 26" performer with the forks bent out real bad. what other parts have people had trouble with? or, is this just something people are saying to hate????

If you search the for sale ads here on the Museum, there was the best price I've seen anywhere on THIS year's bike.
Oh, here it is.

Re: 2013 GT Performer
I have that 2012 Performer 26 and things I've changed or am changing : Bars ( I put some older and taller 1986 Performer bars on it ) , Seat ( I put a GT Racing seat on it the stock one is a choad buster ) , Chainring / Freewheel ( I chose to go bigger Chainring with a 43T Chopsaw ) , Pedals ( I want to replace the brake and lever with a Dia Compe MX-2 combo ) . ![]()

Best price you will find is right here: http://www.citygrounds.com/gt/gt-perfor … -2012-2252
I picked one up from them about 3 months ago with no problems.
These things are pretty fun to ride around the neighborhood on with the kids, love mine. I put an 85 Seat, 85 GT powerdisc and chainring, Front nippon brake with a hollow stem bolt, Tech 5 levers, new cranks, Shimano dx pedals, new grips and taller bars on mine. Next up is a gyro install, tires and some 85 decals. Gave it an 85-86 feel to it.
Looking a pair of all Black non locking Tech 5 levers.

That's a great price, but it doesn't look like it includes shipping. How much extra was shipping for you?
