1985 HARO FST Project
I'm starting a new project and this time I want to share it with all of you here at bmx museum. I'm doing this because this is the first American BMX bike that I'm restoring. I'm from Spain and
since now all my bikes have been Spanish bikes. You can take a look at two of them here in the museu too.
So, I wanted to build an old school haro bike since the first time I saw one because of the absolutely rad look, style and history. A couple of months ago I came across this nice Haro FST frame and
forks on the bay and couldn't resist.

I want to say that I'm not looking for an absolutely factory acurate look. I know the factory specs for this bike and I'm going to customize it to my personal taste either for looking and for ride.
(Yes, she is gonna be rided)
Here are the really nice wheels I have for the build. NOS Diamondback and NOS Suzue hubs. ![]()

Group 1 stem, handlebars and headset. Here I want to say thanks to NeRDBMX for the nice stem.

So, now the frame forks and bars are waiting here to be sent to Chip at C4 for a fresh powder coat of Haro neon green. Really can't wait to have it done! This is going to be a green-blue bike.
Also waiting now for the Dia Compe brakes to arrive.
I also want to say that I'm looking for a blue Dominator seat. If you can help me with this please tell me! ![]()
Well that's it for now, hope to have updates soon!
Cheers from Barcelona to all!

Re: 1985 HARO FST Project
Well, I'm not seeing much interest here but, I'll make a little update anyway. ![]()
The brakes arrived today. Super nice survivor 901's. They look even better in person.
Still waiting for a blue front FS880 to arrive too.
And the greatest news is that the frame, fork and bars are on its way to Chip @ C4. Sended it today. Really can't wait to have it done!!!
Thank you all and have a nice day.
Cheers!

I am interested, one of my favorite bikes. What color are you going to have Chip do? You will be really happy with his work.

Re: 1985 HARO FST Project
Yes, really looking forward to have mine done..
Thanks Raven all your builds are very inspirational.
Actually I've got a question, I'm planning to put new redline flight cranks. Will the new american BB fit in my frame?
I've read in some other post that the new ones may give some problems. I really don't know.

I run the sealed American BB ,,, they fit but you need to press them in and they can be difficult at times,,,,,,,,,,,You will need the instalation tool ,they are easy to make and there is a thread on here about that I will find it and post it up for you ........![]()
This is the thread for a BB press tool ......

Re: 1985 HARO FST Project
Great to know that it will fit! This was my only one concern about the whole project but now it looks like it's time to build my own pressing tool too!
Thanks a lot!

Re: 1985 HARO FST Project
Looks sweet! If you have some concern over the BB fitting I'm sure you could ask Chip to tape off the cup area to make installation easier... Dave.
This is the first time that's happened again!
I told my doctor I broke my arm in two places...
He told me not to go to those places.

Re: 1985 HARO FST Project
Hi guys! It's been a while now since my last update. Not much spare time to spend with the bike lately but finally I've find some time to put all parts together.
The frame, fork and stem that Chip @C4 did was really awesome. Flawless. So hats of to him!
Also got the front Dia-compe FS 880 and blue Dominator seat from members here. Thanks so much! Worked hard on the Group 1 stem and mounted the new odyssey
frequency tires on the rims. Pressed in the BB cups (quite a hard time) and installed the crankset. New Redline Flights.
Ok LOT of progress made. I'm almost done. But can you believe that the day I wanted to update with some pictures my camera died? bad luck..
And the Canon warranty is not the fastest service in the world I guess..
So then I thought, hell I want to show how's the bike going on so I taked a pic with my phone. Hope you guys like it. The only things left are pedals, blue brake cables
and the brake pads.
