Re: THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD
Really interesting question. You guys think the actual bikes some of the big names from back in the day won national events on would be expensive? Or not even in the same leauge?

im sure this must have been brought up before but was dreaming of gleaming nos parts and peices i would like to have in my small collection
and got to wondering what would be or has been so far the most valuable COMPLETE bmx to sell.......lets hear some opinions and some known prices
please........my personal view on the most valuable bike would be the actual kuwahara used to film ET.....this would probably come up in a film memerobilia auction rather than on a bmx site but even so seeing a redline on ebay a few years ago that was used by someone famous or was in a film (i cant remeber the exact story) got to $10,000 unsold as the seller wanted $25,000 .....so elliots bike would make well in excess of this not so famous redline

What can be asserted without evidence, can also be dismissed without evidence...

Just because he puts ridiculous prices one something, doesnt mean its worth that..... but I hear ya.
That's what always gets me the most. When looking at something either in person or something listed on say Craigslist. I shake my head when the seller states "oh I've seen them going for X amount of dollars on there". Yeah that's great. You saw a price. Unless they are the one shelving out the dough for the items I really don't like the comparison. I would like to see actual numbers. Not a inflated "buy it now" price. Sure I could list anything that would draw attetion for a gazillionteen dollars, then have some bloke say I saw Item X on there for that much. That's what I'm going to ask. Rubbish.
I guess it comes down to what a buyer is willing to pay.
Lookin for black winners circle grips. Don't need to be NOS. Just decent enough for a rider.

Re: THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD
That list of Martins is a data base of actual ebay sale prices. Not buy it now not the reserve price but the actual sale price to the buyer excluding shipping of course. None of that stuff belongs to martin as far as I know it's just a list of wild ass (read record) prices people have paid for stuff on ebay. nothing more so yes it is a useful reference. But mostly for people that feel they need to overcharge IMO.

Re: THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD
The 20k PK on ebay was a starting bid or buy it now. Not a bid up item. Never sold. Even after several auctions. I remember have that in my watch list forever
The other thing to consider is who is buying it. When you have a million dollars shelling out 10k for a bmx bike is like me paying $5 for a gallon of gas. Its not relative to the true value
My statements of opinion are made in good faith, and believed that they are true. Adequate research into the truthfulness of the statement and any involvement of Fair comment on matters of public interest. Never done with the intent to do harm or with reckless disregard for the truth, as in cases to show that there is a well-founded public interest in the specific information and in the interest of the public.

Re: THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD
I'm not sure what the highest price paid for a BMX or FS bike is, but I've been offered a whole lot more than any of the posted prices I see in this thread for one of my bikes. Not once, but on 4 separate occasions over the years. I informed the interested people that it wasn't for sale and it was going to my kids.
I would be curious as I'm sure a lot of others here would be what the highest known sale of a complete bike is? I do know of one complete bike that changed hands for 25K a few years back. You have to remember, like any hobby, asking is one thing, but selling is another, so you can't use somebody's estimate or their asking price as a benchmark.
I would also add, that this kind of thing can actually be good for the hobby. The more people who know about it, means more people will dig through their garages, attics, etc and pull out these long lost treasures. High priced sales have helped to skyrocket things like Hot Wheels, Comic Books, and Sports Cards. Whenever a real high dollar deal goes down, it usually ends up on TV, the WSJ, and the internet.

Re: THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD
This is why they cost so much.
The more you guys buy at crazy high prices.
The more they will sell at crazy prices...
So if people refuse to pay $1000 for grips, etc.
Then they wont demand nearly as much cash the next time.
Where the music stinks, and they water the drinks, at the nudie bar.
Where the girlies dance in their underpants, at the nudie bar.
Where you see their butt, and their trap stays shut, at the nudie bar.
Where you can’t touch a breast, but you can cave in a chest, at the nudie bar.
Where you look at a thigh, and blacken an eye, at the nudie bar.
Where a buck’s enough to see their stuff, at the nudie bar.
Where the breasts may be fake but man do they shake, at the nudie bar.
Where you swear like a sailor, and wish you could nail her, at the nudie bar.

Re: THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD
I am sure you have Woody. I'd pay well more than 25k for your Gold TS in a second but it is clearly in the right place.
If you change your mind I will contact the WSJ right away.

I would pay huge for one of Woody's, Eddie Fiola's or Ron Wilkerson's bikes from the 80s. I guess it just depends on how bad you want it. I paid $11,000.00 for a guitar once that was owned by one of my heroes. Hey, it's only money.

Re: THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD
A legit NOS out of the box complete Hutch Pro Star would have to be at the top of the heap .
A scary thought is how much the tires alone are worth (NOS hutch stamped comp IV's )
Or NOS hutch aero speeds ....but the whole bike , original and never used .....OH crap !
