im am restoring my 84 gt mach one the forks, frame and handle bars have some rust spots and i am wondering if it would be bad or not to have it rechromed and if anyone has any idea what it would cost thank you

There are some impressive before and after pics in there. It would be the cheaper way to go if your rust isnt that bad. Hope this helps

The chrome is completely gone from that fork.
There are sections of bare metal. If you want it to look good, it'll need refinished.

BTW...I lived in Barrington many years ago. That's when I really got into BMX.

It might be cheaper to buy a better set than to have those rechromed.

the frame looks a lot better than the forks it cleaned up pretty good the bars have surface rust in the joints the place i called quoted me 400 to rechrome the bars, frame, forks and seat post but i'll see if they will have to charge more because of the forks

Just do your research on the shop doing the chroming. I bought a frame the other day from someone that was rechromed and must say it was done really $hit. They didn't do proper prep before the job.
Tempted to get it removed with reverse plating process and then powdered blue.

oh ya i will be asking lots of questions if they can't do it so it looks like it does now (with out the rust ) welds showing and everything i will not do it

so i droped it off guy was pretty cool showed me around a little bit they look like they do a real good job and he said they would be able to keep everything like it is ...so wish me luck

I had a frame and forks re chromed.The guy told me it was more re chrome a frame that already had chrome them to chrome a painted frame.
