Need Cruiser Recommendations...
I am looking for cruiser recommendations from all of you. I used to have one of those re-issued OM Flyers from around 2008. I loved it however, I felt a bit cramped on it. Wasn't good for long rides. I had to raise the seat-post way too high in order to gain some room.
I am looking for something I can cruise around town on but am able to jump off some curbs or take to the skatepark and carve some bowls (no air for me).
Questions -
24,26 or 29?
Do I even bother with something vintage or are they all just too small?
Sunday, S&M or SE?
I do not want to have to raise my post up sky high just to feel comfortable, there has to be something out there.
About me -
Around 5-9
Hefty, with gut.
Looking for any and all feedback, comments or suggestions!
Thanks in advance!

Re: Need Cruiser Recommendations...
Before you buy a bike go to the local bike shop and try out some of the bikes. That way you can narrow it down whether a 24, 26, 29 etc. is best for you. Personally, I prefer the 24's above all else. Sunday, S&M, or SE Racing are all good choices. What usually persuades me one way or another is the color and sticker combos that may be available any particular year.

Re: Need Cruiser Recommendations...
Dude, if an OM 26" was too cramped for you, step up to a Quad 29"or a Big Ripper. If thats too small I don't know what to tell you.

Re: Need Cruiser Recommendations...
Buy any 24 cruiser you like and throw a layback seat post on it to gain some more space. You can always hacksaw a little off the top part of the seat post if the seat ends up too far back.
Still need more room? Buy a longer reach stem.
Plenty of 6 ft + guys riding 24 cruisers so you should be able to fine tune one to fit you.

Re: Need Cruiser Recommendations...
I'm 5'9" and rode a 29 Quad last week. Was fun. It may not be as "throw-aroundable" as a 24, but you can just ride over anything in your path.....
The Sunday cruiser is a good deal, and more solid than the retro SE's.
Have tons of clean classic rock vinyl to trade, and a case of 70's Star Wars figures.

Re: Need Cruiser Recommendations...
My Standard 24" give me plenty of room (6', 210lbs), but it feels like I'm riding a 20". I do most of my riding on the track. I have a couple of mid 90's to 2000 Redlines that have 22" top tubes. They have tons of room for a big guy and I find them up for grabs all the time.

Re: Need Cruiser Recommendations...
I think you may want to consider a 26".
Check out the Volume Sledgehammer.

if you want to go budget you could even try the DX Xenia 26" from Walmart...

Re: Need Cruiser Recommendations...
I think any of the cruisers you mentioned would be fine. Just try to stay at a top tube of 21.75 or 22. Ive ridden both GT and a Redline vintage cruisers and they were both really cramped. Ive also ridden thye S&M Dirt Bike, all the Sunday cruisers and owned a 2010 Quad and they all rode worlds better than the older stuff. From my experience the newer cruisers are built with a bit more room. Thank goodness cuz nowadays I take up alot more room.
Yeah I want Cheesy Poofs!

Re: Need Cruiser Recommendations...
Thank you all for your feedback and help! Mucho appreciated. I am actually diggin that DK one...mainly for the price. T I think after reading all of the comments and looking at some more of the pics it does mainly come down to fit and looks. I like the style of a taller top tube, like the Volume - that way I do not have to raise my seat post sky high in order for some comfort. Once you get it too high it throws off the looks of the bike- in my opinion.
I know it shouldnt be all about looks, but...come on, it is a little. I have a bike for the skateparks, I am looking for one to cruise around on, looks good and is comfortable.
Again, thanks all!

Re: Need Cruiser Recommendations...
I'm over 6ft and i have 2 cruisers, one fit cr24 and a 95 GT24. I have a layback seat with brace on both, and monster GT bars on the GT, 29" Wide by 8" high the bars on the Fit are 28" x 7". I ride both long distance, maybe 12 miles or something but I tend to stand a lot rather than sit which obviously helps
