Everyone come out to EHT BMX on 9/1/12 for the First Annual Old Guys on Dirt Day!!!

The Track be working with us, They will be running the gate for us!! There will be a $1 fee to the Track for practice.

We can Grill/BBQ in the Park for anyone that wants to bring the Family and have a cook out

Labor Day traffic from the shore would be crazy on Sunday, so Sat night traffic should not be too bad....I'm thinking possible Beach ride afterwards???

Figured since hopefully I'll be cleared by the Dr by then to ride more than commuting that we'll do a day at Egg Harbor BMX track @ Veterans Park since it was one of the places I rode and raced in the 80's

No Tee's, NO SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, just a fun day of hanging out at the track and talking and riding BMX!!!!!!!!!
** There is a large parking lot for you Freestyle guys

I'm thinking lots of grudge match "races" for fun and doing some Kid's races for which I'll come up with some Kids prize bags like I had @ the BBQ
Helmets are mandatory to ride the track, I suggest elbow pads and knee pads for all of the old farts that haven't been on dirt in years

Thinking to meet at 10AM in the lot to hang out, swap and sell and bs and ride the track and even have some fun races/ grudge matches

8/27 UPdate.....

Less than a week to go and so far turn out is light, the Track is still willing to run the gate for us though. Please reach out to friends and get them to come out.

I want to clarify it a bit more for everyone.........

[b] Bring Old, Mid or New School bikes......whatever you want to show or ride, its up to you. Just bring safety gear. If you don't have any, borrow some or go out and pick some up since I plan on organizing more "Old Guys/Girls on Dirt Days" at local Tracks for next year

Bring the family and feel free to just come and hang out, do the Swap, freestyle in the parking lot, bbq, ride the Track or we can set up some mock "Races" amongst us since the gate will be running for us

There's the National going on down South, so most of the racers will be away at that. So don't feel pressured and you can ride at your own pace.

Cool....I'm gonna try to make it. I just blew out my ACL a couple of weeks ago and I need to go under the knife soon. If I am healed up enough by then, I am planning on being there for my 1st swap meet since I got back into this crazy hobby. Looking forward to possibly meeting the local NJ and surrounding area folks who share the same passion for old school BMX.

Is the track in the same location as it was in the late80s/ early 90s? I always went to the nbl national they had in the fall. Good times!!! I remember staying at the hotels on the boardwalk an riding the boardwalk at night. Wish I could make it to the outing

some 1988 NJ State Qualifier main footage from EHT BMX that didnt go to well for me (3rd in from left in Yellow and Blue Free Agent uniform w chest protector).....got a bad start, went for a cross over move, then flipped over my friend Corey Hughes that crashed LOL!
The track is a Lot different now with paved turns, more jumps and a rhythm section on the last straight

I think it would be cool to line up a bunch of OS bikes in one area for all of ther Racers and families to check out when they arrive, watch the racing or even race for those that are licensed (the One Day license would allow you to Race if you so choose), then hit the Beach for a ride later??
