85 Quad Freestyle finally finished after 9+ months!!!
This is my first 'ground up' build since getting back into the hobby and it feels great to have actually have accomplished all of this.
Acquired this F/F off of a member here roughly 9 months ago... went a few different directions before I settled on this. It rides like a F'n champ. I beat the piss outta this bike last night and it stood the test!!!
I was hesitant about the threadless 'coke can' pegs... but now that I'm using them, I LOVE them. Not to mention I've stripped 3 or 4 sets of threaded pegs over the last 2-3 months and was getting tired of replacing them. I know most of you pvrists will hate that I put 14mm rims (which led me to the pegs) on here... oh well, life sucks.. get a helmet!
85 Quadangle Freestyle with unstamped 84 (I think) standing gear forks
Redline forklifter Freestyle bars
ACS slant 55 stem
Jive handles
Tech 5 levers
Polished Nippon front
Mix-match B&W Nippon Rear
Dia-Compe pads F&R
Tange falcon headset
ACS Rotor (with gyro cup, i could not make rotor cup fit, so I used some ingenuity till I can get suitable replacement)
Peregrine 48's w/ Phat Jack Hubs (and extra thick spokes)
Redline Single pinch flights
Techmatic Sealed Bottom Bracket w/ double dimple spindle
Dominator Seat
GT coin stamped layback post
GT (85) winged clamp
Sealed 101 Pedals (on bike cause it's all I had and was out of loot)
Duro Comp ST tires

Hope ya's dig it.
ps: having thoughts of putting black Tuff II's on this...

Thats cause everyone thinks 80s freestyle bikes need to have mags... they dont. Especially if you are gonna actually ride it, you dont want tuffs....

I'm so glad you re-spoked those wheels. Woulda looked jacked with a radial laced front wheel. ![]()

Re: 85 Quad Freestyle finally finished after 9+ months!!!
different rim set, I still have the Peregrine Super Pro's. Gonna pull that cassette hub off the rear(how I bought em) and re-lace with peregrine sealed hub... which I need to find.
and it's the rear that's radial laced. ![]()

Re: 85 Quad Freestyle finally finished after 9+ months!!!
Rears will usually twist when radial laced, both sides. I only have experience with mtn bike wheels though with that type of lacing.

Re: 85 Quad Freestyle finally finished after 9+ months!!!
yeah, i thought it was weird when I picked up those super Pro's and they were radial laced on the REAR... weird, wild, stuff.
I work on my tricks every time I ride. How can I not?!?!?!!???
they are slowly coming back... this bike is my new rider for sure!

Re: 85 Quad Freestyle finally finished after 9+ months!!!
Cool bike.
Tuffs look great on 80's freestyle bikes, but it's very hard to get the brakes to work good enough to actually freestyle on them.
Chrome plated rims are the brakes best friend.
