Re: RL-20II Parts (My Way)

that would look cool if you built a display case for it to display the frame with the parts, I can understand not wanting to build a nos frame. I built a nos 1981 diamondback medium pro that I bought when I was in high school in 2004 and I honestly kinda regret it since I later on found a used complete 81 db.

WANTED:
any 1 inch hoffman superforks with stem 95-97 versions,  90s 36-39 tooth bashguard sprocket,  black 1988 haro fst,  red 1998 hoffman condor frame,  black 1987-88 or 91 haro master.

You are right, a display case would be killer.

Thanks for your support of me keeping a few items NOS, it's fun for me.

I only live in a small apartment, so I can't build a display case yet.  neutral

My place looks like a bike museum already and I love it.

yikes

no problem, I too have a few items i'd like to keep nos since nos stuff is becoming scarce. I don't have room for a display case either, most of my bikes are packed away and I only have a few out at the moment that I ride.

I am acquiring all the cool NOS parts I think would go nicely with the NOS RL-20II.

I am keeping the F+F set safe on my wall.  I don't intend to build it.

I have new school bikes I ride and race.  I know people don't understand this, but I am the NOS Freak!

I think it looks AWESOME on the wall.

I love it. Great display and plenty of other bikes out there to ride. cool

Re: RL-20II Parts (My Way)

Hi Damien! This method of collecting is awesome and respectful to the rarity of the parts and the history of the sport.  Kudos to you.  More people should respect NOS stuff and not waste it on some ego driven build.  When it's gone, it's gone forever except for fake stuff which we all know is evil in general.

One thing.  The Red Line bars.  If that is the OG finish, you should consider waiting for a black pair to surface rather than refinishing those.  Same principals above apply to finishes on NOS and good condition parts.  That NOS red finish had to be very lucky to have survived this long and should be preserved in my opinion.

How about some shots of your entire collection?

Awesome either way!  I would classify you as a rider who also likes to collect. It's nice to keep older parts in mint condition. After all, some of the older stuff doesn't quite hold up like it should. Hell, if I was breaking frames and parts back in the day at 150 pounds I'd hate to see what happens to some of those old parts now.
Hang em up and show your love for the old stuff, then go out and ride the new stuff like it's made to do. smile

Thank you very much brother!

I feel the NOS Supergoose and RL-20II F+F sets are rare and special to both me and the BMX community.

I will keep them NOS for the future.

cool

You mean for when no none wants them anymore! That sounds
like a bunch 'o' fun roll

Re: RL-20II Parts (My Way)

Nice collection of NOS parts.... I think we're both stuck on the same boat with this... I too have a RL-20ii I'm building as well as a RL-20.  Now with only a few parts needed to complete my builds I almost don't want to build them, as we all know parts can only be NOS once..... Thus the delemia. On the other hand I have other bikes to ride, but I will still build the RL-20 since its a surviver and should be enjoyed more on the street I feel, even thought she's in great shape, but I think I will refrain from pulling out my NOS B1B's from there box and installing them.....I just can't bring myself to stretch out that virgin rubber, lol...

Thanks, I love the display and I get lots of enjoyment seeing them both mounted right next to my TV/Computer.

I think F+F sets look cool without the wheels, cranks, etc...  The frame + forks are the SKELETON of the bike.

That's the way I received it from the buyer.  I believe he had a few at one time.

It is definitely NOS with NOS decals, it's sick!

Where did the cranks come from? They look like mine old ones.

Re: RL-20II Parts (My Way)

I never knew Redline sold their frame sets without the decals installed. Can anyone verify this? How do you know the previous owner didn't have it painted and buy a nos decal set?I just scored an 85 Teal Prostyler and the decals were installed.I am not saying it isn't possible but I worked in a bike shop in the mid 80s and opened all the boxes that came from Redline to check for shipping damage and they always had the decals already installed.

The frames are NOS, they may have a little wear, but not bad at all.
